A lively puppy parade highlights the Dog Days of Summer at the Providence Artisans Market in Lippitt Park. Now in its fourteenth season here, the market brings together more than 300 local artists across 27 consecutive Saturdays alongside the Hope Street Farmers Market. Expect fine art, fresh fruits and vegetables, food trucks, and live music, creating a family friendly atmosphere with plenty of puppies.

Beginning breastfeeding can feel like a lot to navigate, yet with clear guidance it can become a confident and fulfilling experience. Healthy Babies, Happy Moms offers a breastfeeding class designed to equip expectant parents with practical knowledge and supportive instruction so they can start their feeding journey with assurance. It is especially helpful during the third trimester, and partners are encouraged to participate as part of the support team. Led by an experienced lactation team in East Greenwich, the session creates a welcoming setting to ask questions, practice hands-on techniques, and prepare for the first days and weeks with a newborn. Topics include the benefits of breastfeeding, prenatal breast assessment, how milk production works, comfortable positioning and breast support, infant suck patterns and achieving a comfortable latch, and common challenges that can affect both baby and mother. Registration is required, group size is kept small for a more personal experience, and the fee is 75 dollars per couple.

Join the Cumberland Community Celebration at Diamond Hill Park for an evening of community fun. The event runs from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, so come by and enjoy the festivities together with your neighbors.

Spend an exciting evening at the zoo by stepping into A Bug’s World as a tiny explorer. Tickets include evening access to the entire zoo along with the A Bug’s World experience, where guests can encounter more than 60 oversized animatronic caterpillars, beetles, spiders, and more.

At the Crowne Plaza, a free, family friendly community gathering showcases more than 250 cars alongside live music, food trucks, Del’s Lemonade, art by local creators, a hands-on truck exploration area, and activities for kids. The event brings people together to support local children who are facing life-threatening illnesses. All funds raised go to A Wish Come True and the families it serves. Admission is free and attendee registration is encouraged.

NIMFest brings live, outdoor music to the King Park Gazebo in Newport. This free weekly concert series runs Sundays in July and August, and the August 9 lineup features Coe Street Co-Op with Lily Rhodes for a 3-hour set of community music. It’s a great way to enjoy an afternoon concert outdoors.

The Parks and Recreation Division, with support from sponsors Coastal Credit Union, My Greene Team, Pamela Hughes, Bandits Baseball Club, Dupuis Oil, and The Washington Trust Company, welcomes The Good Living Band for a free, one and a half hour concert at Veteran's Memorial Amphitheater. Expect three part vocal harmonies, rhythmic acoustic guitars, and rich bass lines, with a set that spans favorites from Friday I’m in Love to Ventura Highway for a lively night of music. Parking is available in the City Hall lot. During the performance, canned goods and other non perishable items will be collected to benefit the Blackstone Valley Food Center and its work to reduce hunger in the Blackstone Valley. Performances may be canceled in the event of, or the potential for, inclement weather, with a possible rescheduled date. The 2026 CYSA Golf Tournament Fundraiser brings the CYSA community, local businesses, families, and supporters together for a day on the course at Cranston Country Club, all to benefit youth soccer in Cumberland. Funds raised bolster programs and training, enhance fields, provide equipment, support scholarships, and foster a welcoming soccer experience for players across all age groups and skill levels. Registration is available for individual golfers and teams, and sponsorship opportunities are open for organizations and community supporters.

Put your reptile knowledge to the test at a trivia night covering snakes, lizards, tortoises, geckos, and more. All experience levels are welcome, from longtime keepers to those who simply enjoy learning about these animals. Expect friendly competition, fun reptile facts and challenges, and a chance to win a gift certificate. The event is family friendly. Bring friends to form a team or come on your own to meet fellow reptile enthusiasts, and see who will earn the title of Reptile Trivia Champion.

Illusionist David Garrity presents a free performance of magic and illusion lasting one hour, supported by the Parks and Recreation Division along with Coastal Credit Union, My Greene Team, Pamela Hughes, Bandits Baseball Club, Dupuis Oil, and The Washington Trust Company. The show takes place on the stage situated between the Park Office and the Daggett House, across from the tennis courts. The Slater Park Looff Carousel next to the performance area will remain open during these performances. If weather is poor or potentially unfavorable, the event may be moved to the Slater Park Pavilion.

Families and skaters of any age can start from the basics in this introductory class. Expect patient guidance that builds confidence and technique through practice time, and continue skating for the remainder of the session at no extra charge after class. Skate rentals and protective gear are included in the class fee. Registration is available online or in person. Minors must have a parent or guardian present to provide a signed waiver.

A live Latin jazz performance featuring Wendy Klein and Robertico Arias will be presented at the Blackstone Boulevard Trolley Shelter. The concert is part of an annual free series. Registration is recommended.

Known for a fast-paced blend of comedy and yo-yo skill, Higby has performed in 26 countries, from New Zealand to Japan, and holds a world yo-yo championship along with four Guinness World Records. The performance takes place at John St. Playground at the corner of John St. and George Bennett Highway. Performances may be canceled during periods of or potential inclement weather with the possibility of a rescheduled date. Presented by The Empowerment Factory, this free, family-friendly art experience brings K-5 children and their caregivers together at Fairlawn Veterans Memorial Park in Pawtucket for small community gatherings that blend creativity and social-emotional learning. Each session features a read-aloud, a hands-on art project, and simple mindfulness practices that support emotional regulation, imagination, and collaboration. Young artists explore art, reading, and group discussion with themes that highlight kindness, confidence, respect, and perseverance. Walk-ins are welcome, and advance registration is appreciated. Please register for each session separately, and plan to sign in and get settled when you arrive.

Teens in grades 6-12 can join teen librarians for a fun volcano experience in the park, complete with eruption noises. Registration is required.

A Rhode Island act beloved at Slater Park, the band returns with its signature energy and style, performing pop hits in spirited renditions. This concert is free. During the performance, the Parks and Recreation Division will collect canned goods and other nonperishable food items to benefit the Blackstone Valley Food Center and its work to combat hunger in the Blackstone Valley area. The Ocean State Ramblers perform as part of the Cranston Summer Concert Series at William Hall Library in Cranston, RI. The program features a mix of bluegrass standards, well-known folk and country numbers, and original songs.

Enjoy an outdoor screening of Clueless as part of Movies on the Block, a free film series from InDowncity. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs since seating is not provided and entry is first come, first served. The series began in 2008 as the city’s first outdoor film program and returned to Providence in 2025 after a six year hiatus. This screening takes place at Grant’s Block Park in downtown Providence, near Ellie’s and Oberlin. The event is sponsored by InDowncity, the downtown small business community, and Cornish Associates.
