At Goddard Memorial State Park, this weekly farmers market highlights local growers and food makers in a welcoming setting where visitors can meet the people behind their vegetables, fruit, flowers, and other favorites. Early in the season the focus is on bedding and hanging plants, fresh cut flowers, meat, early vegetable crops, honey, and maple syrup. As traditional summer crops come into season, additional vendors participate and the selection expands.

Enjoy a free guided meditation at Rocky Point Park Beach. Participants are encouraged to bring a mat or a towel for comfort. Everyone is welcome, whether new to meditation or looking to deepen a practice.

Get ready for New England’s Caribbean dance night at Island Saturdays. DJ Paul Michael will be spinning Dancehall, Soca, Afrobeats, and Reggae vibes. Doors open at 10:00 PM, with everyone free until 11:00 PM, then it’s $10 after. This is an 18+ event, and VIP is available. Door cover may change for special events, and the event typically includes food too.

At the Crowne Plaza, a free, family friendly community gathering showcases more than 250 cars alongside live music, food trucks, Del’s Lemonade, art by local creators, a hands-on truck exploration area, and activities for kids. The event brings people together to support local children who are facing life-threatening illnesses. All funds raised go to A Wish Come True and the families it serves. NIMFest brings live, outdoor music to the King Park Gazebo in Newport. This free weekly concert series runs Sundays in July and August, and the August 9 lineup features Coe Street Co-Op with Lily Rhodes for a 3-hour set of community music. It’s a great way to enjoy an afternoon concert outdoors.

Learn West Coast Swing in a relaxed outdoor setting on the Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Bridge in Providence. First on the Floor offers a free, beginner friendly lesson as part of the Providence Fitness in the Parks series, with no partner or prior experience required. After the lesson, the evening continues with social dancing under the skyline, and donations are welcome. The season will also include occasional themed nights to keep things fresh and fun. Participants are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early to check in and complete the required Providence Parks Activities Waiver, or sign up in advance. On certain dates the free lesson will pause due to special events and holiday programming, and social dancing or special activities may still take place. The Parks and Recreation Division, with support from sponsors Coastal Credit Union, My Greene Team, Pamela Hughes, Bandits Baseball Club, Dupuis Oil, and The Washington Trust Company, welcomes The Good Living Band for a free, one and a half hour concert at Veteran's Memorial Amphitheater. Expect three part vocal harmonies, rhythmic acoustic guitars, and rich bass lines, with a set that spans favorites from Friday I’m in Love to Ventura Highway for a lively night of music. Parking is available in the City Hall lot. During the performance, canned goods and other non perishable items will be collected to benefit the Blackstone Valley Food Center and its work to reduce hunger in the Blackstone Valley. Performances may be canceled in the event of, or the potential for, inclement weather, with a possible rescheduled date. A summer mini market pops up in the Shri Yoga parking lot with a variety of local producers. The market welcomes Fresh Bucks users, including SNAP or EBT with Bonus Bucks, and also honors WIC FMNP and Senior FMNP. Under the Sun Farm offers a weekly produce CSA that can be picked up at the market. Parking on site is free. It is roughly a ten minute walk from the Pawtucket-Central Falls transit center and can be reached via the Route 72 bus.

Illusionist David Garrity presents a free performance of magic and illusion lasting one hour, supported by the Parks and Recreation Division along with Coastal Credit Union, My Greene Team, Pamela Hughes, Bandits Baseball Club, Dupuis Oil, and The Washington Trust Company. The show takes place on the stage situated between the Park Office and the Daggett House, across from the tennis courts. The Slater Park Looff Carousel next to the performance area will remain open during these performances. If weather is poor or potentially unfavorable, the event may be moved to the Slater Park Pavilion.

A live Latin jazz performance featuring Wendy Klein and Robertico Arias will be presented at the Blackstone Boulevard Trolley Shelter. The concert is part of an annual free series. Registration is recommended.

Known for a fast-paced blend of comedy and yo-yo skill, Higby has performed in 26 countries, from New Zealand to Japan, and holds a world yo-yo championship along with four Guinness World Records. The performance takes place at John St. Playground at the corner of John St. and George Bennett Highway. Performances may be canceled during periods of or potential inclement weather with the possibility of a rescheduled date. Presented by The Empowerment Factory, this free, family-friendly art experience brings K-5 children and their caregivers together at Fairlawn Veterans Memorial Park in Pawtucket for small community gatherings that blend creativity and social-emotional learning. Each session features a read-aloud, a hands-on art project, and simple mindfulness practices that support emotional regulation, imagination, and collaboration. Young artists explore art, reading, and group discussion with themes that highlight kindness, confidence, respect, and perseverance. Walk-ins are welcome, and advance registration is appreciated. Please register for each session separately, and plan to sign in and get settled when you arrive.

Set against one of Providence’s most scenic backdrops, it offers a friendly space to connect, move, and enjoy the music together.

Enjoy an outdoor screening of Clueless as part of Movies on the Block, a free film series from InDowncity. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs since seating is not provided and entry is first come, first served. The series began in 2008 as the city’s first outdoor film program and returned to Providence in 2025 after a six year hiatus. This screening takes place at Grant’s Block Park in downtown Providence, near Ellie’s and Oberlin. The event is sponsored by InDowncity, the downtown small business community, and Cornish Associates.
