GLOW turns the park into an after-dark experience with blacklights, a live DJ, and a lively dance scene. Tickets can be purchased online or at the park, and advance purchase is encouraged because capacity often fills quickly. A waiver is required for everyone who enters during this event. The 23rd annual care • give • run welcomes runners, walkers, families, and friends for a community celebration with a Back to the 80s theme at Palmetto Islands County Park at the Big Oak and Sweetgum Shelters. Neon, windbreakers, scrunchies, leg warmers, and big hair are encouraged, and standout 80s outfits will be recognized. Every registration supports Carolina Children’s Charity and helps Lowcountry children living with birth defects and childhood diseases. Expect a festive atmosphere with food trucks, live music, kids’ activities, mascot appearances, scenic trails, and plenty of community spirit. Carpooling is encouraged, and a per-person park entry fee applies unless covered by a Charleston County Parks Pass. The 5K follows a partial trail route across grass, paved paths, boardwalks, sand, dirt, and roots, and fast-paced walkers are welcome.
