Art League of Hilton Head presents A Feathered Focus, an exhibition of wildlife photography by local artist Morgan Thompson at Art League Gallery. Through close observation of the Lowcountry’s birdlife, Thompson captures moments of feeding, courtship, nesting, and territorial behavior, revealing distinctive personalities and expressions that bring viewers closer to nature. Her work encourages a deeper appreciation for the wildlife that surrounds everyday life. An opening reception is planned for the exhibition. A special artist demonstration begins with a gallery walk at Art League Gallery and continues with a field session at Fish Haul Beach Park, and both the exhibit and the demonstration are free and open to the public. Thompson is a self-taught Hilton Head Island photographer and an active volunteer with the Hilton Head Island Sea Turtle Patrol, engaged in the local environmental community. Her work has earned regional recognition, including multiple first-place awards through the Camera Club of Hilton Head, and her photograph Winged Embrace: Great Egrets Pair was selected as a finalist in the National Biennale. She is also an Exhibiting Member of Art League of Hilton Head. According to the gallery team, her images range from striking bird silhouettes at sunrise and sunset to playful young alligators and tender nesting egrets, offering an intimate, up-close view of the Lowcountry.

A Feathered Focus | Wildlife Photography by Morgan Thompson
Art League of Hilton Head presents A Feathered Focus, an exhibition at Art League Gallery featuring wildlife photography by local artist Morgan Thompson. Through close-up moments of feeding, courtship, nesting, and displays of territory, her images spotlight the Lowcountry’s birdlife and reveal distinct personalities that help viewers feel more connected to the natural world. A Hilton Head Island resident since 2017, Thompson is a self-taught photographer who refined her craft through observation and practice. She volunteers with the Hilton Head Island Sea Turtle Patrol and is active in local environmental efforts. Her photographs have earned several first place honors from the Camera Club of Hilton Head, and in 2025 her piece Winged Embrace: Great Egrets Pair was selected as a finalist in the National Biennale. She is an Exhibiting Member of Art League of Hilton Head and has shown her work with the organization for three years. The exhibition is free to explore. An opening reception and a special artist demonstration are also open to the public, with the demo beginning as a guided walk in the gallery and continuing with a field session at Fish Haul Beach Park.

Twenty percent of every artwork sale and class tuition supports Sea Turtle Patrol HHI, the nonprofit that safeguards nests and hatchlings during the nesting season. Timed to the midpoint of sea turtle season, the exhibit welcomes weekday visits and concludes with a closing reception where guests can meet the artists, connect with members of the sea turtle patrol, and enjoy light refreshments. Admission to both the exhibition and the reception is free and open to the public. Throughout the fundraiser, Art League Academy offers sea turtle–focused classes and a free Turtle Talk led by a Sea Turtle Patrol volunteer, an educational session about the island’s sea turtle population, nesting, and conservation. Class registration is available. Sea Turtle Patrol volunteers monitor the beaches daily during nesting season to protect nests and hatchlings, and partnerships like this help fund their mission while educating residents and visitors on ways to help protect this endangered species.

Explore glass as your canvas in a half-day workshop with instructor Kathy Oda at Art League Academy. Participants design and assemble an 8-by-8 inch plate, and no painting experience is required. A portion of proceeds supports Sea Turtle Patrol in conjunction with a special sea turtle collaborative art exhibit at Art League Academy. Art League of Hilton Head presents Finding Light, a new exhibition by local artist L. Robert Stanfield, at Art League Gallery inside the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina on Hilton Head Island. Through vivid abstract mixed media paintings alongside sculptural pieces, the show considers resilience, renewal, and the strength of the human spirit. It embraces the idea that hope grows when it is shared, and that in illuminating another person’s way, we may discover our own. Stanfield’s work features layered surfaces, metallic accents, and a luminous quality that interacts with light. Color, movement, and texture invite quiet reflection and foster emotional connection. A Hilton Head Island resident since 1999, Stanfield studied at Savannah College of Art and Design and has exhibited widely throughout the Lowcountry. His career includes a strong commitment to arts education and to helping others use creativity as a path to growth and healing. His pieces are held in private collections and appear in public settings, including MD Anderson Cancer Center and MiraSol Health. Admission is free and open to the public.

Palmetto Performance Schooling Series presents a three-test tune-up dressage schooling show at Longfield Stables. Each rider chooses and rides three tests, and the combined scores determine overall awards for first through third place. The judge is Janice Mumford, a USEF Western Dressage R judge, USDF L graduate, and USDF Silver and Bronze Medalist. The entry fee is $100 per rider and includes all three tests and related fees. Stabling is available. Trainers are welcome, and rides may be recorded on video. Participants can also enjoy Longfield’s scenic trail system.
