    Battle of Hillotes 13.1, 10k, and 5k 2026

Old Town Helotes, 14391 Old Bandera Rd, Helotes · verified Oct 2
    See details

Race 3 of 4 in the Alamo Series Beer Challenge brings runners to the hills of Helotes at Old Town Helotes, right at the edge of the Texas Hill Country. The event is designed as a race day rehearsal for hilly goal races, inviting participants to test gear, pacing, heart rate, stamina, and strategy in a setting known for its climbs. Distances include a USATF certified half marathon, a 10k, a 5k, and a very short .05k. Expect a mix of shared and closed roads, with the 5k set as an out and back that includes a memorable hill. A big emphasis is placed on learning race procedures, from check in to proper bib and timing chip placement, so the big day feels smooth and familiar. Competitive walkers are part of the program. Parking details and any location changes will be announced through social media and email updates. Awards recognize the top overall male and female, as well as top masters and super masters by gun time, with age group awards determined by chip time. Age group awards go four deep, covering divisions from 14 and under through 90+. Participants who are 16 or younger or 70 and older receive an automatic 50 percent discount and should not apply additional codes. Plan ahead so there is time to pick up a bib, get situated, and line up. Wear the bib on the front of your shorts without bending it, verify your posted time and category after finishing, and notify the timing team if you do not finish. A change of clothes makes it easier to enjoy the awards ceremony afterward. Supporters can also volunteer during the event. Each race in the series features a tri blend event shirt with its own design. A virtual option is available for anyone who needs to complete the distance independently, with the ability to switch from in person. Packet mailing is offered for an additional fee that is currently 12 dollars per packet. Event updates will be shared online and via e‑newsletters.
