The Concordia Cemetery Ghosts & Legends Tour
As night settles over the Franklin Mountains, Concordia Cemetery opens for an after-hours exploration of its 54-acre grounds where Old West history and ghostly lore intertwine. This walking tour moves through a landscape that holds more than 60,000 interments, inviting curious guests to hear stories tied to the people who helped shape the region and the mysteries that linger among their graves. Highlights include the resting place of gunslinger John Wesley Hardin, areas honoring Buffalo Soldiers and pioneer families, the Chinese Cemetery and sections associated with fraternal organizations with distinctive symbols and rites, and the Infant Nursery, often noted by visitors as a particularly active spot with reports of laughter and the sensation of small hands. The setting is quiet, historic, and distinctly desert at night. This experience takes place in total darkness over uneven ground, so bring a flashlight and sturdy walking shoes. Cameras are welcome for both historic photos and the chance to document something unexplained. While paranormal encounters are never guaranteed, the atmosphere sets the stage for memorable storytelling. A free, family-friendly Summerween picnic at Mary Webb Park serves as a pre-tour meetup with a casual trinket swap and twilight tales from a local author. The after-hours cemetery walk is a ticketed event with limited capacity, and proceeds support the maintenance and preservation of Concordia Cemetery. The tour is led by Lost El Paso Paranormal.
