Explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and math at the Central Library through a rotating series of hands-on STEAM activities offered each month. Geared to ages 6 to 12, the program encourages experimentation, problem solving, and creative discovery. Explore traditional woodworking as a demonstration at Bear Bend Cabin on the Sam Houston Museum grounds shows how raw wood becomes carefully crafted pieces. Watch time honored techniques shape simple materials into finished work and get a close look at the steps that bring each piece to life.

Central Library presents Lapsit Storytime, an interactive session of rhymes, songs, and fingerplay activities designed for babies from birth to 18 months and their caregivers. Older siblings may attend if they remain seated. The second half features Stay and Play, with age appropriate toys available for unstructured play. Tickets are required for entry. Complimentary tickets are distributed at the Children’s Desk prior to the program. Each attendee, including infants, must have an individual ticket and be present to receive it. Capacity is limited, and tickets are handed out in order of arrival. This program takes place in the Central Children’s Storytime Room. All MCMLS Library programs are free and open to the public.
