    Texas · verified Aug 30
    See details

Celebrate a long-running holiday tradition with a 36th annual run featuring 5K, 10K, and a Kids 1K. Presented by the Sea Rim Striders Run Club, this signature fundraiser supports the club’s year-round mission to promote running and walking and also spotlights a local cause, with Ability Central Works as the featured nonprofit beneficiary. Registration is required in advance, as on-site signups are not available. Entry fees are 10 dollars for the 1K, 30 dollars for the 5K, and 40 dollars for the 10K. Discounts are offered but cannot be combined, including 30 percent off for Sea Rim Striders members, 25 percent off for military individuals, and 5 dollars off for special needs participants in any distance. All sales are final. If changing to a shorter distance, no refunds or future credits are provided. Bib transfers may be completed ahead of time, but not on race day. Early registration comes with extras. The first 100 people who register for the 5K or 10K receive a Sea Rim Striders branded giveaway, and some early bibs may include a golden star that unlocks surprises from the club and participating local businesses. All distances award finisher medals. Participants receive a short sleeve red shirt made with Ledger Tech fabric from Leslie Jordan Apparel; sizing typically runs true to size, and size changes can be requested. Competitive awards include overall male and female for first through third, along with masters, grand masters, and senior masters for both men and women. Age group awards follow five year brackets from 0 to 9 through 70 plus. The Kids 1K recognizes overall male and female, and there is additional acknowledgment for adaptive athletes and the oldest participant. An early start option is available for adaptive athletes. The 10K has a course time limit, so choose that distance only if you can complete it within the cutoff. Those who do not finish the 10K within the limit receive a DNF and cannot switch to the 5K to be considered for awards. Any age may enter the 5K or 10K if they can complete the distance within the time limit. Please do not leave children under 10 unattended on the course. The Kids 1K is open to children 12 and under and to special needs participants of any age. Parents may accompany their child on the 1K course at no charge and do not need to purchase a 1K entry simply to escort. A waiver is required for escorts who are not registered for the 5K or 10K, and parent wristbands are available at packet pickup. For safety, families are asked to stage toward the back so faster runners can start first. Parents who want a shirt can purchase merchandise at the Sea Rim Striders tent while supplies last, payable by PayPal or cash. Packet pickup is offered before the event, with limited pickup available on race morning. Please avoid parking on the side of MLK Parkway. General parking is plentiful, with overflow available downtown at the Civic Center. Special needs and disability parking can be arranged in advance so a reserved space can be coned.
