Set out on a gentle creek float with a fossil hunt twist. This ticketed outing invites ages 6 and up, with an easy pace that suits kids, first timers, and novices. Glide by shaded banks under a leafy canopy, breathe in the scent of wildflowers, and listen for birds as you move through a waterway connected to an ancient sea. Fossil shark teeth and other remnants rest in the sediment, and the thrill comes from spotting and sifting for these small pieces of deep history. Expect calm water about 3 to 4 feet deep, a low and slow route where the group may travel a mile or less, and plenty of time to explore. Paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes are welcome. Launch is from a gentle grassy slope about 100 yards from roadside parking with no fee. Ice cold water is provided, and the paddle is narrated.
