Lancaster High School hosts free open practices with the Texas Beasts for youth athletes interested in flag football, tackle football, and cheer. A registration promotion offers $100 off with the code FEARTHEBEASTS. Program options include 6U flag at $100, 8U through 12U tackle at $250, and 6U through 14U cheer for $200. Flag registration provides two custom uniforms, a soft shell 7v7 helmet, and coverage of facility and league fees. Un-owned Outdoor Cats Spay/Neuter Transport

A shuttle at Ten Bells transports unowned friendly and feral cats to the clinic for spay or neuter, then brings them back to the same location for pickup the same day. Capacity at this stop is limited to 15 cats, there are no appointments, and spots are first come, first served. Dogs are not accepted. Bring friendly cats in a hard-sided carrier. Feral cats must arrive in a humane trap. Use one carrier or trap per cat, and note that soft carriers are not permitted. Surgery fees are $65 for females and $55 for males. City of Dallas residents may qualify to have feral or community cats fixed at no cost through the 311 service request program. Obtain a service request number under Animal Care and Control by choosing the Animal Community Cat Program, complete the details, and bring the SR number to the clinic or the transport with the cats. Ear tipping refers to clipping the tip of the left ear while the cat is under anesthesia. This is painless and helps identify a fixed community cat so it can be released if trapped again.

ROPL hosts a Junior Spelling Bee for children ages 7 to 12, giving young spellers a chance to show what they know and compete for a special 3D-printed championship trophy. The program is geared toward Explorers ages 6 to 12 and Tweens ages 8 to 12. Participants need to check in before the competition begins, and anyone who arrives after the start will not be able to take part. Those who want to prepare can pick up the official word list as a physical handout at the library. The event will crown the inaugural Junior Spelling Bee champion. FIRST SHOTS: NEW SHOOTER | SHOOT SMART - GRAND PRAIRIE

This introductory class is designed for new shooters and is presented by Shoot Smart with the National Shooting Sports Foundation through the First Shots program. Instructors patiently cover the fundamentals of handgun use and, above all, safe handling practices. Much like learning traffic rules before getting behind the wheel, this course encourages building safety knowledge first. Participants leave with a firm grasp of basic firearm safety and the essentials to begin shooting with confidence. The price is $65 per person, and no prerequisites are required. All necessary equipment is included. Shoot Smart provides a .22 LR handgun, and the First Shots program supplies eye and ear protection along with ammunition, while supplies last. Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the start of class are eligible for a refund or credit. Students ages 8 to 20 may attend when accompanied by an adult who is 21 or older.

The latest project is a 14 song collection written in a remote California cabin and steeped in immersive indie folk, and he is currently performing in Europe and the UK with Tom Odell after wrapping a 20 date run with The Lumineers. 8th Annual Original Watermelon Day

Texas watermelon season takes center stage at the 8th Annual Original Watermelon Day at Dallas Farmers Market. More than 20 Texas-grown varieties will be showcased, with chances to learn about each type and purchase directly from local farmers, from familiar favorites to unique heirlooms. The weekend features family friendly fun with balloon art by Bender, mini tractor rides, kids activities, and a jelly making demonstration with LA Farm Girl. RCDRL brings the 2nd Annual Texas Outlaw Showdown to The Strip at Traders Village for a weekend where every pass counts. The program features a dual-layer competition highlighted by an Outlaw Shootout, along with ample Test-N-Tune time. The opening day is devoted to the Outlaw classes and Test-N-Tune for all, culminating in a Quick 16 Outlaw Shootout with a cash payout. Pro Street Outlaw and Limited Prep Outlaw use a special buy-in with a 100% payout back to racers, and the higher track fee on this day is returned to the field. This shootout format is exclusive to the Texas Outlaw Showdown and is not part of regular season events. The second day delivers the main event with Test-N-Tune in the daylight, a single qualifying round, then eliminations under the lights, continuing the successful after-dark approach used at recent meets. All other classes compete under the standard RCDRL format and earn points toward their championships. Opening Night Celebrations 2026 Halloween

Kick off the Halloween Light Show with an opening night celebration that welcomes everyone. Attendees may bring their own beverages, coolers, ice, chairs, and snacks. Halloween attire such as shirts, hats, blinkies, and bling is encouraged, and costumes are welcome but not required. Expect warm weather and dress to stay cool. Parking may be down the street with a short walk back. Please avoid parking in front of the three houses or anywhere that blocks a direct view of the display, as those areas are reserved for vehicles watching the show from their cars while tuning to 90.3 FM. Parents are asked to keep children close and out of roped areas and projector zones to prevent equipment damage or electrical hazards. Photo requests in restricted areas may be accommodated with an escort depending on how busy it is. Laser pointers and distracting light toys are not allowed. Shows typically run about two to two and a half hours, and the season continues with around eight weeks of festivities that include frequent weekend events and special shows. Heavy fog and strobe lighting will be in use, and Galaway Manor is under continuous video recording for security.

All offerings are stated to be legal to own and sustainably sourced. In addition to shopping, look for sideshow performances on stage and opportunities to learn taxidermy through classes held during the expo. The event fosters a welcoming, DIY-minded community where visitors can discover new artists and connect with people who share similar interests. Drivers typically receive five runs in the morning and five more in the afternoon, although the total can change with the weather.

26th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament & Instructional Clinic

Signups are available for golfers, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters of the silent auction and raffle. Registration is handled on Eventbrite. If attendance is not possible, a tax-deductible gift can be made to directly support student scholarships. Contributions are also accepted through Zelle, CashApp, PayPal, and Venmo. The goal is to raise and award $100,000 in scholarships this year.
