Outer Space and Galaxy Summer Art Camp!
Young artists who dream of the stars can dive into an out-of-this-world art session that blends painting and clay. Participants will paint a swirling galaxy and sculpt a clay spaceship, turning big imaginations into celestial creations. This class is for ages 5 and up. The fee is $29 and includes all supplies. Instruction is led by Stephanie Howerton of Our Children’s Earth, an artist who explores many mediums such as marbling and hand dyeing and enjoys creating clothing, jewelry, and home goods. The camp is hosted by The Local Artisan Collective. Registration is available, and there are no refunds for cancellations within 30 days of the class start. Additional themed summer camps, including Oops I Arted, Fairy, Mermaid and Ocean, and Dinosaur, are also offered.

Learn to create custom pieces in a hands-on jewelry and silversmithing class guided by Rene Venegas. All experience levels are welcome. Participants explore core techniques, get comfortable with tools and materials, and can work on pieces such as necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings. The series is designed for continued learning as skills build over time, though attending a single session is also an option. For a one-time visit, common projects include a silver band or ring, a ring with a cabochon stone, simple earrings, a copper or silver bracelet with or without a cabochon, or a simple pendant with or without a cabochon. Registration covers the class and access to tools and equipment. Metal and stones are not included and may be brought from home or purchased on site. Each two-hour session is $40, or choose a three-class punch pass for $100. Class size is kept to about 4 to 5 people to allow for plenty of one-on-one instruction. The class is geared toward adults, and mature teens and pre-teens are welcome. Sessions take place at The Local Artisan Collective in downtown Ogden, and private classes and parties are available. Payment and registration can be completed in person or online. A full refund, minus a $5 cancellation fee, is available for cancellations made more than 7 days before the class, with no refunds for cancellations made less than 7 days prior. August Art Stroll at The Local Artisan Collective fills the evening with artwork, demonstrations, and hands-on experiences, plus a Community Tiny Art Show. The shop keeps later hours for the stroll and stays open afterward for additional shopping. This month highlights two featured artists. Glass artist Fiona Hurst, whose practice deepened in 2025, is known for pieces like glass-blown worry stones and heart pendants, and she will be on hand with a giveaway for one of her worry stones. Gaye Leatherow Hurst, an Ogden native and Weber High alum, brings decades of making across lampwork, glass fusing, mosaics, ceramics, tole painting, counted cross-stitch, polymer clay, and now intricate seed beading, with new beaded work on display. The annual Tiny Art Show returns with a Collage and Mixed Media theme, presenting small works arranged in the classroom. Live glassmaking can be seen in the studio with Mike from Hurst’s Handblown Glass. A custom ring experience invites guests to choose a stone, bezel, and silver band for silversmith Rene, a 16th generation maker, to finish on the spot, or opt for a ring crafted from a vintage sterling silver spoon handle, often ready in under half an hour. The Little Art Market showcases creators from the YMCA, reflecting skills developed in felting, jewelry making, painting, and more. Monica from Wally’s Wax Co. leads a calming bottle activity with all supplies included, priced from $8 to $20, designed to support mindfulness, quiet reading corners, homework breaks, and moments of calm. No reservations are needed, and pricing depends on the options you choose. This hands-on experience takes place during the art stroll at The Local Artisan Collective in downtown Ogden. Rene brings a deep silversmithing lineage, with family roots among early Spanish artisans in the Americas, including work on cathedrals in the Dominican Republic and on the first European coins minted in the New World. Lorin Farr ParkWild Wednesday: Who Eats Whom at Ogden Nature Center
Come learn about predator-prey relationships at Ogden Nature Center. During this live, hands-on program, you’ll use a real animal and skulls to figure out who eats whom in nature, and explore the adaptations, survival skills, and food webs that make it all work. The program starts promptly at 3:45 PM, and after it ends there may be free time to explore the grounds. Note that trails and the Visitor Center close by 5 PM.
Ogden Nature Center2026 Chamber Golf Classic
Head to the course for the annual Ogden-Weber Chamber of Commerce Chamber Golf Classic, a day built around networking and supporting the chamber’s only fundraiser of the year. Play in a shotgun start tournament with breakfast and lunch included, plus hole contests and a golf cart for every two players. Lunch also features clubhouse time and award presentations.
Mt. Ogden Golf CourseCopper Bowl Class
Explore metalwork in a hands-on copper bowl workshop that blends creativity with practical skills. Guided instruction covers shaping with hammers and forming tools, smoothing edges with sandpaper, soldering a base and the handles you design, then polishing the surface to a bright finish. Everyone leaves with a unique, functional bowl that can corral jewelry or keys or simply serve as a display piece. All materials and tools are supplied, and beginners are welcome. The class takes place at The Local Artisan Collective. Tuition is $55 per person. Recommended for ages 16 and up, with younger participants allowed when accompanied by an adult. Please note there is significant hammering, which can be tiring for kids. Space is limited, so advance registration is encouraged. Cancellations made more than seven days before the class receive a full refund minus a $5 fee. No refunds are available within seven days of the start. Instruction is led by Rene Venegas, a 16th generation silversmith whose family history in the craft dates to the early Americas, including Felipe Venegas, known for work on cathedrals in the Dominican Republic and for striking the first European coins in the New World. Rene has taught jewelry and silversmithing at Weber State for 15 years and has been featured by The Standard Examiner, The Signpost, KUTV Inside the Story, FOX13 Good Morning Utah, The Salt Project, and KTVX Good Things Utah. He is a recipient of the Ogden City Mayor’s Art Award for Folk Art.

This free community workshop introduces the fundamentals of Swedish massage, highlights the value of caring touch, and explains how it supports overall well-being. Attend solo or with a friend or partner, and practice straightforward techniques for the neck, shoulders, and hands that can be used at home. By the end, participants will have a basic foundation in the benefits and core methods of Swedish massage, whether exploring massage school or simply hoping to offer a more comfortable neck massage to someone they care about. Please wear casual, comfortable clothing that allows easy movement. Instruction focuses on working through clothing, with hands-on practice limited to areas commonly uncovered such as the neck and hands. Class size is intentionally small, limited to 20 participants, and reservations are requested by email. Every attendee will be entered into a drawing for a complimentary 50-minute student massage in a professional day spa and student clinic, with the winner announced after the class.

Each person can make up to five finished dishes or keepsakes to take home. This class is open to all ages and is led by Stephanie Howerton of Our Children’s Earth at The Local Artisan Collective. Dogden Festival
Dogden returns to Farmers Market Ogden on Historic 25th Street for a pet-friendly celebration of dogs and the people who care for them. Held during the weekly market, this gathering invites the community to bring well-behaved pups downtown for activities, contests, and plenty of canine fun. Expect a festive parade, friendly competitions and games, an awards presentation, and photo-ready moments throughout the day. Pet vendors will be on site with treats, toys, and supplies, and attendees can enjoy the full market experience with 300+ vendors, food trucks, live music, and more. Admission is free and open to the public. Dogs taking part in Dogden activities must be registered in advance and remain on leash, and space for participants is limited. Registered pups may receive event swag while supplies last. For the comfort and safety of all pets, owners are encouraged to bring water and consider paw protection when pavement is warm. Dogs that are aggressive or reactive should remain at home. Awards will be presented for Most Adorable, Most Talented, Best Dressed, and additional sponsor-selected honors. Getting to the event is easy with free public transit options including Ogden Express OGX (Route 603x) and the Ogden Trolley (Route 601). Free parking is available nearby at The Junction parking garages, Union Station, the UTA FrontRunner Station, and the WonderBlock parking garage. A large trading card and collectibles expo fills the Golden Spike Arena Exhibit Hall with Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Lorcana, Magic: The Gathering, One Piece, and sports cards, plus memorabilia, plush toys, Funko Pops, games, and giveaways. Hobby vendors will offer cards, comics, action figures, and a variety of other collectibles. General admission is free. Vendors can secure tables at an early bird rate of $130, and tables purchased at that rate are nontransferable and nonrefundable. Each table rental includes the space, an 8 foot table with a black tablecloth, and a complimentary voucher for two tacos and a regular drink. Bookings are handled online only, and payments or reservations are not accepted via Facebook messages, so be cautious of scammers.
O-Sho Trail Series (5k)
This welcoming 5k in the O-Sho Trail Series brings new and novice trail users together to connect through trail running while celebrating the access offered by the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Designed as a fun(d) run, it channels proceeds back into the trail to support maintenance and improvement efforts. Registration is open.
Weekend on the Edge 2026
At the Golden Spike Event Center, this high energy gathering spotlights diesel performance, off road activities, dyno runs, sled pulling, and family friendly fun. Rookies Pulling Night, presented by Daily Driven Performance, gives first time competitors guidance from experienced pullers and a chance to try the track with daily driven trucks. A dyno competition invites contenders to chase big numbers, with opportunities for owners to run their own vehicles on the rollers. The Truck Show n’ Shine showcases standout diesel builds from across the West. A major sled pull brings the action to the dirt as drivers attempt to haul a 40,000 pound load for more than 300 feet in a head to head test of horsepower and determination. Vendor Alley features gear, favorite brands, and new products and innovations for diesel builds. The dyno competition and Show n’ Shine are free to the public, and tickets are required for the sled pull event.

A late-summer seminar led by trainer Jonas Black focuses on addressing common canine behavioral challenges in an educational setting. Geared to both trainers and dog owners, it offers ample time for in-depth conversations and explanations across the weekend. Jonas is committed to continuing education, contributes volunteer and charity work with rescues and shelters, welcomes into his home dogs who might otherwise remain in long-term shelter care, and actively advocates for wildlife through awareness, education, and efforts supporting protective laws. Participation includes a very limited number of five working spots for attendees with their own dog or a client dog, along with unlimited audit spots.

A lunchtime creative meetup brings artists together at Two Bit Bistro for a roundtable conversation focused on community updates and opportunities. The gathering also highlights ways to engage with the venue, including how to participate as an artist during First Friday Art Stroll, perform as a musician in the restaurant, and book a spot in the space. After lunch, the group heads to The Corner to learn about promoting events there. This series rotates among local spots, with future stops including The Local Artisan Collective, Ogden Contemporary Arts, and The Lab.
Two Bit BistroNorthern Utah Suicide Awareness Walk
Now in its 19th year, this suicide awareness walk gathers the community in downtown Ogden to honor loved ones, support those on a healing journey, and advocate for prevention. The walk coincides with the Harvest Moon Celebration on Historic 25th Street, and participants are welcome to enjoy those festivities afterward. Check-in and the program take place at the Ogden City Amphitheater. NUHOPE shirts are available while supplies last. Registration is available.

Blown Glass (Lampwork) Pendant Experience
Get hands-on with molten glass in a guided lampworking session that introduces glassblowing at a bench torch fueled by propane and oxygen. With an emphasis on proper safety practices, this experience offers a safe and welcoming way to try shaping glass. All tools and materials are provided, and the class works with borosilicate glass, commonly known as Pyrex. Over the course of three hours, create your own pendants at the torch. Expect to complete a minimum of two simple pieces, with the chance to make more as time allows. Results will vary by participant. Finished work is kiln annealed to strengthen the glass, so pieces will be ready for pickup on the next business day.

In honor of The Local Artisan Collective’s 10th birthday, the fifth annual sidewalk chalk art competition will transform the walkways in front of and alongside the store into a colorful open air gallery. Local artists will create vivid chalk pieces on the pavement, and spectators can stroll The Junction in downtown Ogden, Utah to watch the artwork come to life and admire the finished creations.
