Families exploring the Ogden Farmers Market can visit the Ogden Nature Center booth for a free, hands-on nature and art experience created for curious kids. This edition focuses on the small creatures that have a big impact, featuring a make-and-take Mini Bug Explorer Box that encourages close observation and discovery. Children can also contribute to a collaborative Community Nature Mural and bring home their own artwork. Participants receive a Curiosity Passport and earn a hole punch each time they take part at the market. As punches accumulate, kids unlock nature themed rewards, including a Nature Lover lanyard and pin at four punches, a big collector pin at six, and a giant collector pin at ten. A grand prize is awarded to the participant with the most punches across the season. Rewards are redeemed at the Ogden Nature Center, where staff or volunteers verify passports and present prizes. Designed for all ages, this drop in activity encourages outdoor exploration, creativity, and learning through weekly themes inspired by local wildlife and habitats.

Farmers Market Ogden brings together local farmers, food producers, artisan makers, and small businesses for a free, open-to-the-public weekly marketplace. On August 8, the market runs downtown along Historic 25th Street with rotating vendors, food trucks, and community offerings, plus live entertainment throughout the morning. Day two of the annual rummage sale returns with a larger and improved experience. This continuation of the yearly tradition is back and designed to offer even more to explore.

The talk centers on the Nanotyrannus controversy and describes how evidence and scientific methods guided the resolution. Throughout the season, the series explores unusual prehistoric life, the ways scientists have studied these creatures over time, and the legends that have grown around their discoveries.

At Lindquist Field, this community charity event is open to anyone who wants to take a swing in a home run challenge. Participants test their power at the plate, compete for prizes, and come together in support of a good cause.

This installment spotlights Surfer Rock, Saturday Night Fever, and Rock n' Roll, inviting participants of all experience levels to learn new steps and move to classic favorites. Attendees are encouraged to bring friends, family, lawn chairs, and comfortable dancing shoes for a lively mix of music, movement, and community fun. No experience is required.

The Idaho Falls Chukars visit the Ogden Raptors at Lindquist Field in Ogden. Expect fast paced Pioneer League baseball with plenty of balls put in play. Watch rising talent adjust from inning to inning in a close-to-the-field setting.

A welcoming meetup for makers of all kinds at The Local Artisan Collective. Participants bring their own supplies and spend time painting, sewing, drawing, sculpting, writing, knitting, crocheting, beading, or working on any other creative project while connecting with fellow crafters. Hosted by KC in Classroom A and B, the gathering wraps up with a brief share session where participants can show progress, ask questions, and exchange feedback and ideas with the group. Create your own jewelry while learning essential silversmithing skills in a welcoming, hands-on class led by Rene Venegas. Participants explore tools and materials and practice techniques to craft pieces such as necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings. The format supports continuous learning over multiple sessions, and single visits are also accommodated. For a one-time project, options include making a silver band or ring, a ring set with a cabochon, a simple pair of earrings, a copper or silver bracelet with or without a cabochon, or a simple pendant with or without a cabochon. Registration includes the class and use of studio tools and equipment. Metal and stones are not included and may be brought from home or purchased at The Local Artisan Collective during class. Each 2-hour session is $40, or choose a three-class punch pass for $100. Class size is limited to about 4 to 5 participants to allow for plenty of one-on-one guidance. The class is designed for adults, and mature teens and pre-teens may participate. Private classes and parties are available. Register in person at the shop or online. Rene Venegas is a 16th generation silversmith whose family’s lineage in the craft traces to some of the earliest European metalwork in the Americas, including Felipe Venegas, who worked on early cathedrals in the Dominican Republic and helped mint the first European coinage in the New World. Rene has taught jewelry and silversmithing at Weber State for 15 years, has been featured by regional news outlets, and is a recipient of the Ogden City Mayor’s Art Award for Folk Art.

August Business After Hours is hosted by Weber State University Athletics Sky Suites. Admission is complimentary for Chamber members and their employees, and the fee for non-members is $35.

Together for Foster Care offers an informative, welcoming space for anyone curious about foster care or already involved. Hear insights from a panel that includes staff from Utah Foster Care, the Division of Child and Family Services, the Office of Licensing, and current foster parents.
