A Stern Army launch celebration at Decades Arcade features an IFPA-sanctioned pinball tournament with a capped field of 40 players. The entry fee is $17 per person, with $10 going into the cash pot. Top finishers share the pot at 40, 30, 20, and 10 percent, and first place also earns a Stern Grand Champion plaque. After the third round, a raffle will award a Transformers translite from Stern, and every competitor is entered. Qualifying follows a Dominion Pinball League style in Matchplay across five rounds. Players are paired to face opponents they have not yet played when possible, and new rounds begin once all games in the current round have finished, so short waits may occur. Scoring is linear using DC League values, with 4/3/2/1 in four-player groups and 4/2.5/1 in three-player groups. A tiebreaker may be used to set the top four. Game assignments strive to balance plays so groups are sent to machines they have used the least. The top four advance to a single-game final on Transformers Pro. The tournament is sanctioned by the IFPA, and standard IFPA rules and procedures apply. Mechanical chime games are set to five balls, electronic sound games to three, and one extra ball may be played on classics from 1990 or earlier. On single player titles, tilting ends the game. Practice is permitted. The main pinball room includes about 40 machines spanning 1957 through 2026, and as many as possible will be in the mix. Stern Insider Connect is available on the five newest Stern machines, and logging in is allowed.

The Gladstones return to Glass House Winery & Brewery with a high energy mix of rock and original songs. Admission is free and the event is open to all. The band formed around songwriter and guitarist Bob Girard, formerly of the Charlottesville group The Casuals featuring Johnny Sportcoat, and features guitarist Charlie Pastorfield, drummer Jim Ralston, and bassist Tim Ryan, with occasional keys by Skip Haga. Canelos Burritos will be on site for its first visit, serving a menu centered on burritos. Live music typically takes place inside the glass conservatory, an indoor tropical setting, and may at times move outdoors under the back deck eaves. Seating is first come with no reservations. Picnics are welcome throughout the property, with no outside alcohol permitted. There is ample indoor and outdoor seating, and guests may bring blankets and chairs. Pop up tents and personal grills are allowed in the overflow grassy tailgate and picnic areas. Glass House Winery wines by the glass or bottle and brewery beers by the pint are available at the Tasting Room Bar and the Glass Theater Brewpub during their operating hours. Rooted in the Washington, DC scene, Gordon Sterling and The People channel unity and awareness through songs shaped by Gordon's spirited stage presence and thoughtful writing about life and the Black experience in America. Jamaican American singer, songwriter, and guitarist Gordon Sterling has pursued this calling since his teens, building a career that spans more than 25 years. Their debut album, titled Truth and released in September 2022, ranges from intimate soul to high energy explorations, and its title track earned the 2023 Washington DC Wammie Award for best Funk and Blues song. Px3 is the duo of drummer Rob Madore and keyboardist and saxophonist Isaac Young from Connecticut, a project that grew from open ended improvisation into a vehicle for modern dance music, funk, hip hop, and more. Their close musical connection fuels intense live sets. Together and individually they have worked alongside members of Tauk, Consider the Source, Lespecial, Goose, Eggy, and Twiddle, and they also contribute to the collective Mono Means One. Their latest release, Piano Percussion Planet, highlights their range and features Thomas Xavier Kenney of Doom Flamingo.

Premier Guitar has praised his warm tone, imaginative solos, and formidable technique. He arrives with a new release, Gravity & Grace, on his Projekt Music Group label. Williams previously played guitar with Karl Denson's Tiny Universe and has appeared alongside artists such as John Legend, Dave Matthews Band, Warren Haynes, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, John Oates, Hannibal Buress, Robert Randolph, and Soulive. Humble is a new West Virginia trio that channels funky roots music with songs that run deep. Drummer Brian Gorby and guitarist Matt Heusel first performed together in Humble Sacrifice, then teamed with bassist Scotty Harkness in the Trainjumpers before forming their three-piece. Gorby also powered the rhythms of the Hackensaw Boys before joining Cabinet. The trio format strips the music to its essence, locking in earthy grooves with soulful guitar and bass, creating a sound larger than three players alone. Enjoy live music as singer songwriter John Kelly brings guitar and vocals together with the harmonica artistry of Gary Green. The performance is open to everyone and there is no cover charge. Seating is available both inside and outdoors on a first come basis, and reservations are not accepted. Picnics are welcome throughout the property, with the exception of outside alcohol. Professional performers share the stage with students to bring the kingdom of Arendelle to life. The tale follows Elsa, newly crowned and struggling with powerful magic she has kept secret, whose flight into the mountains leaves Arendelle locked in winter. Anna sets out to find her sister and restore warmth, teaming up with ice harvester Kristoff, his loyal reindeer Sven, and the ever-optimistic snowman Olaf. Expect beloved numbers like Let It Go, For the First Time in Forever, and Love is an Open Door, making this a family-friendly way to enjoy a touch of winter during warmer days. Music and lyrics are by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, with a book by Jennifer Lee, based on the Disney film written by Jennifer Lee and directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee. The original Broadway production was directed by Michael Grandage and produced by Disney Theatrical Productions. The Front Porch and Center for Cultural Vibrancy present The Legendary Ingramettes from Richmond, Virginia, an African American gospel ensemble whose story stretches over more than six decades. Led by a lineage of strong Black women, their sound draws on the 1940s and 1950s male quartet tradition, reimagined through soaring female voices, close harmonies, and a driving rhythm section. Evangelist Maggie Ingram formed the group to keep her family together during hard times. Born Maggie Lee Dixon in Coffee County, Georgia, she taught herself piano as a child, later moved to Miami where she performed with the Six Trumpets, and ultimately brought her children to Richmond, where the Church of God in Christ welcomed them. There she worked in the home of civil rights attorney Oliver W. Hill Sr., shared stages with artists such as Shirley Caesar and Clara Ward, wrote regional favorites, and recorded with Nashboro Records, while turning down offers to join secular acts, including one from James Brown. As Maggie faced Alzheimer’s, leadership passed to her eldest daughter, Almeta Ingram-Miller, who now heads the group. Today she is joined by sister-in-law Carrie Ingram Jackson, Maggie’s goddaughter Valerie Stewart, and Jaccarri Woodson, with Patrick Newby on keyboards, Calvin Kool-Aid Curry on bass, Kenny Heath on drums, and Kenneth Curry on guitar. The Ingramettes bring the uplift of a Sunday service to the stage and have appeared at venues like the Kennedy Center and the National Folk Festival, with performances nationwide. Before the pandemic they toured Serbia and Bulgaria with the U.S. State Department and released Take a Look in the Book, their first recording after Maggie’s passing. Almeta and Carrie received honorary doctorates from Higher Learning Bible Institute International Seminary in 2020, reflecting an honor Maggie received from Virginia Triumphant College and Seminary in 2011. The group was recognized with the NEA National Heritage Fellowship in 2022.

Experience the final installment of a three-part Full Moon Dusk Walk led by deKoven Pelton at the burial ground. This mindful evening walk invites participants to step out of routine and move beneath a darkening sky as the full moon rises, creating time to pause, reflect, share space with others, and reconnect with the elements. The August full moon has many traditional names, including Corn, Grain, Fruit, Red, and Sturgeon Moon. This one coincides with a partial lunar eclipse, with more than 90 percent of the moon in Earth’s shadow, likely giving it a reddish glow. Even though the walk follows the peak, there will still be ample moonlight. The route covers about one mile in roughly half an hour across uneven ground through fields and woods and along a gravel road. Natural light from sunset and moonrise may be sufficient, but a bright flashlight or lantern is recommended. Wear sturdy shoes, and bring a walking stick if desired, or pick one up at the kiosk by the burial ground. The group meets at the barn and gathers briefly before and after to share reflections. Light rain will not stop the walk, while heavy downpours or thunderstorms will cancel. Arriving on time or a little early is encouraged, as it can be difficult to locate the group once the walk is underway. There is no cost to attend, and people of all ages are welcome. Inspired by Leigh Ann Henion’s Night Magic, the evening centers on discovering wonder in the dark.

CLAW brings a playful, sleepover themed bash packed with goofy antics, comedy, and plenty of arm wrestling, all to raise funds for Out and About. Out and About is a leading LGBTQ+ empowerment organization in Charlottesville that builds community across Central Virginia through social gatherings, partnerships with local businesses, and access to free HIV testing and health supplies. Its work helps people find connection, support, and resources that make life healthier, brighter, safer, and more meaningful. Guests are encouraged to wear cute pajamas and bring a 2 liter bottle of their favorite soda. Pillow fights might break out, and arm wrestling is a sure thing. VIP tickets place you close to the action. Limited on site parking is available for a $10 donation per spot, paid upon arrival, and accessible parking on site is free. 14th Annual Cville Sabroso Festival
Discover the sights, sounds, and spirit of Latin America at the city’s largest celebration of Latino and Hispanic culture. Chamomile & Whiskey began when Nelson County musicians Marie Borgman and Koda Kerl blended chamomile tea with Evan Williams whiskey and found a flavor that mirrored their musical spirit. Since forming in 2011, the group has grown from roots in Americana, blues, Celtic, old-time, and Southern songwriter traditions, now adding a more electric edge with guitarist Drew Kimball and drummer Stuart Gunter. Their most recent studio release was recorded in Nashville in 2019 with Ken Coomer of Wilco and Uncle Tupelo. Sweet Afton delivers a dream pop sound rooted in Appalachia, built on two fiddles and rich three-part female harmonies. The lineup features Marina Madden on vocals and guitar, Marie Borgman and Hannah Pocock on fiddle and vocals, and Phillip St. Ours on guitar, songwriting, and vocals, with Cierra Mills on drums and Brian Gregory on bass for this occasion. Leah Grams Johnson, a songwriter from the northern California coast, brings a voice shaped by the wide-open West and a love of folk and country. Inspired by artists such as Emmylou Harris and Joni Mitchell, she has studied at Berklee College of Music and the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, has been a finalist in songwriting competitions including the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, and is preparing to release a debut full-length in spring 2026.
