Over the past four decades, Fleck has taken the banjo into an array of musical territories and has earned 19 Grammy Awards spanning country, pop, jazz, classical, instrumental, and world music. His work includes more than three decades leading Béla Fleck and The Flecktones, composing multiple banjo concertos for full orchestra, and exploring the instrument’s African roots in the documentary Throw Down Your Heart.
