SoulMates is a hands-on experience for couples who want to better understand their shared story and how they are uniquely designed to work together. With Christ-centered insight and practical relational wisdom, participants map out their relationship profile, including what motivates them, how they tend to respond in conflict, and how they naturally connect. The Strength Deployment Inventory is used to make these insights specific and actionable. Learning happens through interactive exercises and guided conversations, so couples not only gain clarity but also enjoy discovering one another in fresh ways. Along the way, they notice patterns, reinforce what is already healthy, and practice new approaches that reflect humility and understanding. Couples leave with a clear next step and everyday tools to navigate conflict, communicate with purpose, and cultivate a deeper, more unified, Christ-centered marriage.

Local artist Cyndi Maitri leads a hands-on needle felting workshop welcoming complete beginners through experienced makers. Participants will learn to use wool and dry felting techniques on a felt backing to create one or more finished pieces. Newcomers receive step-by-step instruction and can complete a frame-ready wool painting, while intermediate and advanced students can delve into more detailed projects with guidance as needed. All materials are provided, including high quality locally sourced wool, and additional supplies will be available to purchase for anyone who wants to continue at home. The cost is $50 for non-members or $40 for members, plus a $10 supplies fee paid directly to the instructor, which covers wool. Leave with a unique felted artwork ready to display.

The Blacksburg Museum & Cultural Foundation presents its annual Blues, Brews and BBQ at St. Luke & Odd Fellows Hall, a nationally recognized historic site that once served as a social hub for New Town, a Black neighborhood during segregation. Members of the Hall Committee offer programs like this to honor the kinds of gatherings that historically took place in the building and in the former New Town community. Beer and wine, barbecue, and sweet treats will be available for purchase from Blue Ridge Beverage and Kirk’s Famous BBQ. The New River Blues Society will be on site with information and event support. Seating is limited, so bringing chairs is encouraged. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $10. Proceeds support the exhibit redesign at St. Luke & Odd Fellows Hall, ahead of a planned grand reopening. Live performances feature The JoJo Stockton Project, Seedpicker, and Lady D and Mi$$ion. This weekly walk, organized by the Christiansburg Run Club in Christiansburg, Virginia, brings neighbors together for a friendly group stroll. Presented in partnership with Ameriprise Financial Radford, Pete Dye River Course, and the Pulaski County, Radford, and Montgomery County Chambers of Commerce, it offers opportunities to build relationships on the course and afterward. Woody and Marcia McKenzie lead a spirited session of Blacksburg’s Market Square Jam with a range that stretches from Appalachian roots and Celtic melodies to swing and original pieces. They switch among several instruments and bring years of experience performing, providing music for dancing, and guiding community jams, which helps create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Players at any level are invited to take part and can suggest tunes, and group sing-alongs are encouraged. Recognized within The Crooked Road network, Market Square Jam centers on the region’s old-time tradition and gathers musicians and listeners in Market Square Park to share tunes and enjoy the downtown setting.
