Explore the pollinator gardens at Lone Star Lakes Park during Open Garden Days, a chance to connect with Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners who cultivate these spaces and share their expertise each Friday. These sessions take place on the first Friday of each month during the growing season and include guided looks at the gardens, opportunities to help with light weeding, and conversations about what is growing and the purpose behind each planting. An old white truck with a sign in its bed marks the location near one of the park’s eleven gardens. Plans may change in bad weather. If a session is cancelled or a scheduled date is missed, visitors can stop by whenever the Master Gardeners are on site. They answer questions and provide information about the plants found throughout the pollinator areas. Little Texas brings its chart-topping country hits to the Franklin-Southampton Fair for a live show suitable for all ages. Look forward to favorites like God Blessed Texas, My Love, What Might Have Been, and Kick a Little. The concert will be held at the Franklin-Southampton Fairgrounds, and entry to the performance is included with paid fair admission, so there is no additional concert ticket to purchase. Arrive early to enjoy food, rides, exhibits, agricultural displays, games, and other family-friendly entertainment before the music begins.

Hosted by The Salvation Army Suffolk Corps with support from Sinclair Communications, this community distribution offers backpacks packed with school supplies for students who need them, available as long as supplies remain. Students must be in kindergarten through 12th grade; pre-K is not included. A parent or guardian should bring an unexpired government-issued ID, proof of residency, and the child's birth certificate. Discover your house with a Sorting Hat activity, capture memories at a do it yourself photo booth with themed backdrops, and enjoy craft brews and elixirs from New Realm as you explore. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome.

Join in for a high-energy, family-friendly air band jam where kids and families can “rock out” without any musical talent needed. You’ll have inflatable instruments, temporary tattoos, hair chalk, and stage-ready fun, then take the stage to lip-sync a favorite rock song, strike a pose for a future album cover photo, and cheer on other performers. Drop in anytime during the event window between 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM.

Parents can enjoy a break while children stay active at World Class Gymnastics Too. Open to ages 3 and up, this event features gymnastics games, pizza, a craft, and more. The cost is $30 per child. Space is limited.

Snacks and drinks are provided, and full-day campers should bring their own lunch. Campers must be fully potty trained and bring their own water bottle.
