Experience the children’s garden at Sleepy Hole Park through its sights, fragrances, and sounds during Open Garden Days. Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners, who care for the beds and lead educational activities each Wednesday, cultivate a sensory space for children of all ages. Held on the fourth Wednesday each month while the garden is in season, these open times allow visitors to meet the gardeners, wander the plantings, help with light weeding, and learn what is growing and why. Plans may change with the weather. If a date is canceled or you miss one, you can visit when volunteers are working in the garden, where they are available to answer questions and share details about the plants you see. For accessibility needs, assistance or accommodations are available by contacting the Virginia Cooperative Extension City of Suffolk office. Virginia Cooperative Extension is a partnership of Virginia Tech, Virginia State University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and local governments and is an equal opportunity employer.
