Held on the fourth Thursday of each month, this casual game night features Bunco along with Left, Right, Center. Everyone is invited, and no club membership is needed. Sounds of Summer Concert with Tidewater Drive Band
Tidewater Drive Band brings commanding vocals, a bold horn section, and tightly crafted choreography to Yorktown’s Sounds of Summer Concert Series, creating a high-energy show that keeps the dance floor moving by the York River. The series highlights a variety of styles, including country, beach, jazz, and R&B, along with rotating food trucks and breezy waterfront views. Guests may bring blankets, chairs, and small coolers. Tables, umbrellas, and tents are not permitted. Expect a dance floor, friendly games of cornhole, and easy, to-go meals from Burger Mania and Coastal Thirst Beach Deli available for purchase. Free parking is offered in designated public lots throughout town, including York Hall, York-Poquoson Courthouse, and the County Administration Building. The complimentary, ADA-accessible Yorktown Trolley runs during each concert on a modified route that still reaches some of the stops on the outskirts of town. Virginia State 8-Ball Barbox Championship
Compete in the Virginia State 8-Ball Barbox Championship with a $125 entry that covers a $100 tournament fee, a $20 administrative fee, and a $5 greens fee. The event includes a player meeting and a calcutta. Matches are a race to 7 on the A side and a race to 5 on the B side, and B-side race lengths may be adjusted based on the size of the field. The finals feature an extended race, and the format is not true double elimination. Players rack their own, the break alternates, and jump cues are permitted. BCA rules are in effect, and an 8 made on the break is spotted. A clean, respectable dress code is required.

Presented as part of the We the Teachers National Fellowship and Conversations on the Declaration programs, this talk features William & Mary alumna Dr. Emily Sneff, an early American historian recognized for her expertise on the Declaration of Independence. She shares new insights by tracing how independence first reached the public, highlighting early readings and the initial responses that appeared in print across English and other European languages. The program will be held in the Tidewater Room of the Sadler Center on the William & Mary campus. Space is limited, and seats will be available in order of arrival. Dr. Sneff earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in history from William & Mary, served as a consulting curator for 250th anniversary exhibitions at the Museum of the American Revolution and at Historic Trappe, and is the author of When the Declaration of Independence Was News, published by Oxford University Press.

Hours have been expanded due to strong community response, and there are occasional Saturday pop-ups and seasonal sales. Some openings also align with food distribution. The route is approximately 100 yards and begins at the Fort Monroe Visitor and Education Center plaza.
From the Ground Up
A ranger-guided walking tour explores several Fort Monroe buildings that are individually listed on the National Register, showing how each one helps build the fort’s significance from the ground up. The experience focuses on exterior architecture with outside-only viewing. Wear comfortable footwear and bring water. The walk sets out from the Fort Monroe Visitor and Education Center Plaza.

Tuesday and Friday evenings bring ACL cornhole action to NES Cornhole at the Williamsburg Premium Outlets near Ben & Jerry’s. ACL directors Mike Anderson and Billy Beverly host a 4-game Swap plus Pile-On format, and players can reserve a place in advance through the Hold My Spot feature in the ACL app. Concessions are available on site, with Papa John’s pizza by the slice, made to order burgers and hot dogs, pork egg rolls, fries, tater tots, VA250 Signature Subs, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and desserts like Snicker ice cream bars and cones. Dogs with any level of experience can take a turn chasing a moving lure. Hosted at PETquoson, this activity is walk-in only and costs $10 per run. Handlers must be at least 16 years old, or be accompanied by an adult or guardian if younger. Owners must remain on site and accompany their dog for the entire visit. Only one dog is on the course at a time. If you bring multiple dogs, secure the others away from the course while one is running, such as in a vehicle, in a kennel, or with another dog owner. A liability waiver is required for each dog before running and can be completed in advance. Owners are responsible for retrieving their dogs. Buddy and Co Shop and its affiliates control the speed, distance, and duration of each run and may stop a run if a dog shows fatigue, injury, disobedience, or other problematic behavior. They may also limit back to back runs when needed.
