The Sand and Surf 5k/10k welcomes runners and walkers alike. Race proceeds support the nonprofit organizing the event. In partnership with Bishop's Events, the organizers are working toward a zero waste experience to help reduce plastic pollution associated with races.

2026 Sand & Surf 5k/10k

Pick your distance with a 5k or 10k at Mount Trashmore in Virginia Beach, a summer-ready setting that welcomes both runners and walkers. Finishes earn points toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack Series, as well as the Summer Series. A virtual option is available if you prefer to participate from a location of your choice. Every participant receives a finisher medal, a technical event shirt, and a chip timed race. Course support includes water stations at approximately miles 1.55, 3.1, and 4.65 on the 10k, and at approximately mile 1.55 on the 5k, with Gatorade available at some stations. Restrooms are located onsite at the park. Awards recognize the top three men and women overall, plus first and second place in the following age groups for each distance: 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 plus. Overall podium finishers are not eligible for age group awards. Live results will be available during the event, with final results and series points posted afterward, and optional runner tracking can deliver progress updates to mobile devices. Packet pickup takes place at the event, and race day registration will be offered, though shirt sizes for same-day registrants cannot be guaranteed. Photos captured by staff will be shared on social media after the race. A weekly social media challenge highlights a favorite post from the previous race weekend and awards 50 percent off a future race, so tag BishopsEventsLLC on Instagram or BishopsEvents on Facebook. The charity partner will be announced. Parking is available at Mount Trashmore. The race is held rain or shine, and any changes due to weather will be communicated to registered runners. A refund and transfer policy is available. Participants who enjoy a more relaxed pace can take part in the Back of the Pack Series element, which groups similar paces for friendly competition and scoring.

Enjoy a free community strength session connected with the 1st Phorm community at LFT GYM VB, led by Body by Summer. The total body format welcomes beginners and seasoned lifters alike. Experience a sense of lightness with a beginner aerial yoga class that uses a supportive hammock to guide each pose. Expect a blend of strengthening, stretching, and relaxation that builds flexibility, mobility, balance, and body awareness in a welcoming setting. The hammock assists throughout, making movements that can feel challenging on the mat more approachable and comfortable in the air. No previous yoga or aerial practice is required. W2W 4x4 Offroad Playground

At the W2W Proving Grounds, drivers can take on a dedicated 4x4 obstacle playground with options from easy to advanced, offering a place to practice and improve off-road technique. Many features are built from rubber tires to help reduce the chance of vehicle damage and to provide a more forgiving surface if a line is not quite right. Tickets are sold per vehicle, and you may bring as many passengers as there are seatbelts. All participants must be adults, with no minors permitted. Ticket holders may arrive a little early to get rigs ready, and a brief drivers meeting begins the wheeling session.

Proving Ground 4x4 Obstacle Course

At the W2W Proving Grounds, drivers take on a dedicated 4x4 obstacle playground with challenges that range from easy to extreme. It is designed for practicing and sharpening driving skills, with most features built from rubber tires that are forgiving if you choose the wrong line and help reduce the chance of damage to your rig. Tickets are sold per vehicle, and you may carry as many passengers as there are seatbelts. No minors are permitted. The session begins with a drivers meeting, followed by wheeling on the course.

Join the Classic Rock Camp at School of Rock Chesapeake to study iconic 60s and 70s rock music, including bands and artists like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones. Campers spend each day on rehearsals, practice, music-based games and activities, and they also cover rock history and the stagecraft needed to perform. Join Potts N Paints of Great Bridge for a one-day art camp for kids age 5 and up. Campers will work on at least two art projects during the day, with a snack break included. Virginia Beach Funk Fest Beach Party

Among the East Coast's largest outdoor music festivals, this beach party returns to the sand at 32nd Street for two evenings of live funk. The first night features D-Train, Big Daddy Kane, and Midnight Star. The second night continues with Trouble Funk featuring Big Tony, 803 Fresh, and Cameo. General admission to the Virginia Beach Funk Fest Beach Party is free, although entry depends on capacity. Let's Conquer the Dragons

A four-day group motorcycle ride sets out from the Wawa in Chesapeake, Virginia with a safety brief before an immediate departure. The goal is to notch three routes in the Dragon Series, Head of the Dragon, Back of the Dragon, and Claw of the Dragon, as riders work toward Dragon Master bragging rights. The Tail of the Dragon is not part of this journey. Lead Road Captain George B will guide the group, with a sweep road captain to be announced. Riders will stay in Tazewell, Virginia at The Traveler on Main and should make their own reservations. The first day focuses on travel to Tazewell, mostly along I-64, I-81, and I-77 before some back roads into town. Breaks are planned at regular intervals with lunch near the midpoint, plus likely stops at a couple of dealerships for challenge photos and check-ins. The second day features the Head of the Dragon in West Virginia, photo stops at the official check-in, lunch and probably ice cream, a visit to a Bluefield dealership, and, if time allows, a side trip to Burke’s Garden and its well-known general store. The third day tackles both the Back of the Dragon and the Claw of the Dragon with plenty of scenic photo opportunities. Evenings wind down back in Tazewell with food, drinks, stories, and spots along Main Street that include the Back of the Dragon Brewery. On the final day, riders meet in the hotel parking lot for a brief safety review and start the ride home, working back to I-77 toward Hillsville, then onto Route 58 to the Hampton Roads area. Breaks will be taken periodically with lunch about halfway and a possible dealership check-in. The group ride officially wraps up after merging onto I-664, and from there everyone continues home at their own pace. Participants should arrive with a full tank, dress for the weather, and bring an EZ Pass. This is a closed ride for Ironclad HOG members with one guest per member. Impairing substances are not permitted during a Chapter ride, and riders must also be free of their effects.

More than 40 local breweries and their teams square off for bragging rights in Brewer’s Choice, People’s Choice, and the Battle of the Brewers. Admission includes tastings of up to 80 beers from up to 40 local brewers, a souvenir glass, a sampling guide, a five dollar food voucher redeemable with onsite food trucks, live music from Wonderland, Optimistic Cynics (OCX), and Nate Sacks, on site games and tournaments such as cornhole and beer pong, a silent auction featuring brewery donations, local art, and restaurant gift certificates, and a token to cast a People’s Choice vote. Paint the Taste- Quick Draw Event

Artists of all ages and skill levels take on a high energy quick draw painting challenge, completing a work from scratch in just two hours. Participants bring their own easels and supplies and respond to a lively festival scene filled with colorful crowds and tempting food, capturing the spirit of tasting and celebration on canvas. The event welcomes youth ages 10 to 17 as well as adults of all abilities, with a $10 entry fee. Cash awards recognize the top three pieces, with $300 for the top honor, $200 for second, and $100 for third, along with prize ribbons. When time is called, finished works are displayed for a brisk public viewing and wet paint sale, giving artists a chance to sell their pieces right away. Pre-registration is available, and on-site check-in is offered.
