The event features the club’s biggest horse show of the season with two judges working in two arenas, alongside a large tack sale and a wide-ranging vendor market. The Coastal Classic Horseman’s Club concludes its season with a family friendly horse show hosted by the Ranch & Rail Show Series at Summersett Farm LLC. Moosestock brings a full day of music and community spirit to Portsmouth Moose Lodge 898 in support of the fight against breast cancer. The third annual Witches & Warlocks on the Water brings together witches, warlocks, and paddling enthusiasts for a free, costume-friendly paddle at Owls Creek Boat Ramp, hosted by Coastal Virginia Paddlers. A candlelit concert brings Halloween-inspired music to Virginia Beach at St. John’s Episcopal Church - Portsmouth, creating an intimate atmosphere for a live string performance. The set features Thriller, Funeral March of a Marionette, the Allegro molto from Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8, Tubular Bells from The Exorcist, themes from Stranger Things, Beetlejuice, The Addams Family, Halloween, and Psycho, along with Ghostbusters, Danse macabre, Night on Bald Mountain, Time Warp from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and a medley from The Nightmare Before Christmas. The performance runs 60 minutes, with doors opening 45 minutes before the music begins and no late entry allowed. Guests must be at least 8 years old, and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The venue is ADA compliant, and seating within each zone is assigned in order of arrival. Music is performed by a Listeso string quartet.

Rooted in one of Mexico’s most beloved traditions, this Día de Muertos gathering honors the memories of loved ones through folkloric dance, music, traditional foods, and creative works of art. Taking place at Chesapeake City Park, it is organized by Ballet Folclórico Mexicano Mis Raíces Bailan under the direction of Luz Castillo Tovar, with support from dancers, families, volunteers, and community members.

This class opens a series of science sessions centered on forensic hair analysis. Guided by Trixie, participants learn the anatomy of mammalian hair and practice with microscopes to identify animal species from hair samples. Everyone prepares wet mount slides from a range of mammals, compiles a personal reference booklet, and then applies those resources to solve mysteries. For ages 14 and older. Suffolk Master Gardeners will host a collection of clean, black plastic plant pots in good condition, putting them back to work in local projects such as propagation efforts, the plant sale, and a pollinator day plant giveaway. The aim is to keep usable containers out of the landfill, so please stack donations neatly before dropping them off. Accepted items include clean gallon or quart black plastic pots, along with smaller pots, seed-starting trays, and flats that are also clean and intact. Items that cannot be accepted include containers caked in mud, pots filled with wet leaves, any pots with ant or spider infestations, and broken or torn pieces. Because this effort is volunteer-run and there is no way to transport, store, or dispose of unsuitable items, please take those elsewhere.
