    Caring Hearts Dementia Caregiver Expo

Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center, 9100 Freedom Center Blvd., Manassas · verified Sep 13
    See details

Caregiving for someone living with dementia can bring love, responsibility, fatigue, resilience, and major life changes, often alongside emotional strain, financial pressure, work challenges, and the ongoing task of helping a loved one remain safe at home while keeping a household steady. This community-centered expo is designed to ease that load through education, wellness, advocacy, and genuine connection, bringing together caregivers, healthcare professionals, community organizations, and local resources so families can navigate dementia care with greater confidence and support. It is not a clinical conference or a sales-focused trade show. The emphasis is on practical tools, emotional well-being, resource navigation, and sustainable strategies that bolster both families and communities. Created with caregivers at the heart of the experience, the day addresses real-world issues such as burnout, emotional wellness, care planning, aging in place, balancing work and caregiving, and finding the right support systems across the region. Attendees can take part in educational sessions on dementia-aware communication, caregiver mental and emotional health, and planning for care. They can meet local service providers and aging resource organizations in an easy-to-browse exhibit area, visit a dedicated resource hub for hands-on guidance and take-home tools, and access wellness screenings that include blood pressure and A1C checks. Conversations spotlight sustaining the caregiving role, supporting family well-being, and strengthening community networks. Resources focus on healthy aging, caregiver support, and maintaining quality of life for older adults. A special fashion show honors caregivers by celebrating strength, identity, dignity, and self-worth. Throughout the event, there are many chances to connect with others who understand the caregiving journey and to leave with clear, actionable next steps. The expo welcomes family members supporting someone with dementia, people preparing for future caregiving responsibilities, older adults and families looking for aging and wellness resources, professionals and advocates who serve caregivers and aging populations, and community members seeking dementia education and caregiver support. It reflects the mission of My Natural Me, a nonprofit committed to empowering individuals and families through education, advocacy, wellness, and culturally responsive programming. Through its Dementia Caregivers Support Program, My Natural Me works to ensure caregivers have the tools, language, community connections, and wellness resources they need to care for others without losing themselves in the process. The result is a meaningful day of learning, connection, support, and community that uplifts caregivers and strengthens the systems that help families thrive.
