Conceived by Boston guitarists Johnny Trama and Ryan Taylor, the group channels that tradition while putting a distinctive spin on it each night. Keyboardist and vocalist Matt Zeiner began on the road with Matt “Guitar” Murphy, later joining Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers Band for an extended run that included touring and songwriting. He went on to lead his own project, release Live on a Summer Night in 2007, collaborate with artists like Melvin Sparks and Jeff Pevar, and develop new material that blends soul, R&B, and rock. Trama brings deep roots in rock, soul, and blues, with credits alongside Bettye LaVette, G. Love, and the Reckoners. The rhythm section features bassist Jesse Williams, whose resume spans Duke Robillard, Louis Walker, and North Mississippi Allstars, and drummer Tom Arey, known for work with Peter Wolf’s Midnight Travelers. Percussionist Brendan Tommaney adds a jazz-tinged approach and has performed with groups including Pink Talking Fish. Craig Mitchell, also known as Oliver Twisted, brings over three decades of DJ experience shaped by roots in Saginaw, Michigan near Detroit and a long connection to Burlington after attending Saint Michael’s College. A co-founder of the production team The Orange Factory, known for chart success, he has held residencies at New York City’s Tunnel and Limelight, Rise in Boston, Twist in Miami, and Terminal in Quebec City, with additional appearances at clubs in Texas and San Francisco, as well as performances for audiences in Canada, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica. He is currently focused on open format weekly nights and teaching in Burlington. At Red Square, the Left Eye Jump Band from Burlington, Vt. brings a blues repertoire grounded in Chicago, Texas, New Orleans, California, and Delta traditions, drawing heavily on the styles of the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. The music ranges from Delta slide guitar explorations to jump swing inspired by T-Bone Walker, then eases into slow blues ballads before kicking up Texas-flavored funk and a New Orleans rumba boogie pulse. Formed in 1997 by musicians steeped in the genre, the group has featured configurations from trio to octet with horns and continues to attract seasoned players devoted to the deep blues. Guitarist, vocalist, and bandleader Dennis Willmott traces his roots to early listening that included Leadbelly and Mance Lipscomb, formative encounters with Lightning Hopkins and the duo of Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, and performances in the Boston coffeehouse scene, later shifting to electric blues and connecting with collaborators through Vermont Blues Society jam sessions.

Dwight + Nicole, a Vermont-based soul and roots band led by singer songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Dwight Ritcher and Nicole Nelson, bring their powerful vocals and energetic live show back to Higher Ground for a hometown performance. An all ages, seated evening with Hana Stretton and Helena Deland. British Australian composer, singer, and producer Hana Stretton is recognized for warmly textured, spacious songs. Her 2023 debut, Soon, earned a devoted international following and was reissued in 2024 by Phil Elverum on his label, who praised the record and her deeply attentive approach to sound. Her next album, tiarn, expected in summer 2026, shifts from the Australian bushland evoked on Soon to the Pacific, unfolding gradually with subtle classical and electronic touches. The release is independent, with vinyl editions planned through PW Elverum & Sun in North America, brierfield flood press in Australia, and Lima Limo in Europe and the UK. Montreal musician Helena Deland explores how songs can hold what escapes everyday language, drawing inspiration from reading and long walks. Her work includes the 2020 debut Someone New on Luminelle Recordings, Hildegard with Ouri on section1, and the singles Swimmer and Spring Bug on Chivi Chivi. She is announcing her first headline tour across North America and has toured widely in North America and Europe supporting Weyes Blood, Andy Shauf, Connan Mockasin, Soccer Mommy, and Iggy Pop. Over the past year he has surpassed 25 million streams, with tracks like 'NOTHIN' TO IT' and 'Hot Pocket - Remix' reaching a broad audience. Recognized for distinctive wordplay and a bold persona, he has earned placements on Spotify playlists such as 'Internet People' and 'New Music Friday AU & NZ.' Recent appearances on 'On The Radar' and touring activity reflect his growing presence in the rap scene.

MaMuse marks the release of their seventh full-length album, This Is the Venue, with a seated performance open to all ages. The new music leans into what it means to be human right now, making room for both celebration and grief, for difficult conversations and the healing that can follow. The new record grew from a burst of creativity that followed reunion livestreams, starting in McAlhaney's garage and continuing at Tampa's Feral Sound Studios, where they self-produced and leaned into whatever felt inspiring. The result stretches from the sing along urgency of Walk Alone to the crushing intensity of Seven, showcasing a band eager to push into new territory. With more than 1.5 million albums sold in the U.S. and a No. 1 Alternative Radio hit in Feel Good Drag, Anberlin heads into the 20 Years of Tears amphitheater tour with Thursday, Hawthorne Heights, and Saosin and looks forward to sharing new material with longtime fans.

Guitarist and singer Rick Miller, bassist and singer Mary Huff, and drummer Dave Hartman have performed together for more than 30 years, touring and recording steadily since 1983. Their journey has run from lively North Carolina house parties to late-night TV spots on Conan O’Brien and The Tonight Show, from a set near Mt. Fuji to performances inside North Carolina correctional facilities. They have shared the spotlight with legends such as Link Wray, Loretta Lynn, Hasil Adkins, and Patti Smith. Their songs have appeared in films and on television, been spoofed by Weird Al, and even powered ads selling diamonds and pork sausage. In 2014, the Southern Folklife Collection at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill honored the group with an exhibition recognizing their music and cultural footprint. Expect a jubilant, dance-ready show full of twang, surfy riffs, and raucous rock and roll, the kind of throwdown Rolling Stone once summed up as a rousing rock and roll party.
