Originally from Saginaw, Michigan near Detroit’s techno roots, he moved to Vermont to attend Saint Michael’s College and now focuses on open format weekly events and teaching in Burlington. Left Eye Jump brings a rich slice of Burlington blues to Red Square, channeling the electric and acoustic traditions of Chicago, Texas, New Orleans, California, and the Mississippi Delta from the 1940s through the 1960s. The band ranges from raw Delta slide guitar and T-Bone Walker style jump swing to soul searching slow blues, Texas flavored funk, and New Orleans rumba boogie, reflecting a long standing commitment to the deep blues. Formed in 1997 by musicians grounded in the genre, the group most often performs as a six piece, yet has appeared as a trio and expanded to an eight piece with a horn section. Guitarist, vocalist, and bandleader Dennis Willmott traces his path to the blues back to the 1950s with early listening that included Leadbelly and Mance Lipscomb, inspiration from live performances by Lightning Hopkins and the duo of Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, and coffeehouse sets by 1963 in the Boston area featuring acoustic Piedmont, Delta, and Texas twelve bar styles. In the early 1990s he shifted toward urban electric blues and connected through Vermont Blues Society jam sessions that helped spark the creation of Left Eye Jump.

Based in Vermont, the soul and roots group Dwight + Nicole is led by singer songwriters and multi instrumentalists Dwight Ritcher and Nicole Nelson. Their music blends soul, blues, R&B, and roots influences, highlighting commanding vocals and a lively stage presence. Fresh off the release of their album Day or Night, they return to Higher Ground for a hometown performance that is open to all ages.

The album will be released independently, with vinyl editions handled by PW Elverum & Sun in North America, brierfield flood press in Australia, and Lima Limo in Europe and the UK. Helena Deland is a Montreal-based musician who treats songs as a space for what everyday language leaves out, drawing inspiration from reading and time spent walking. She introduced her first album, Someone New, in 2020 on Luminelle Recordings, followed by Hildegard, a collaborative project with Ouri on section1. Her single Spring Bug continues her work with Chivi Chivi after 2022’s Swimmer. She is announcing her first North American headline tour and has toured extensively across North America and Europe supporting Weyes Blood, Andy Shauf, Connan Mockasin, Soccer Mommy, and Iggy Pop.

Built from open-ended writing in McAlhaney’s garage and self-produced at Tampa’s Feral Sound Studios, the album reflects a try-it-if-it-feels-right spirit, spanning the sing-along spark of Walk Alone to the crushing intensity of Seven. The band’s history includes over 1.5 million albums sold in the U.S. and the No. 1 Alternative Radio hit Feel Good Drag, a post-Lowborn hiatus, two recent EPs titled Silverline and Convinced, and a reunion that took shape through lockdown livestreams. Southern Culture On The Skids hits the stage for an all ages performance that channels decades of raw, good-time rock and roll. Since 1983, the trio of Rick Miller on guitar and vocals, Mary Huff on bass and vocals, and Dave Hartman on drums has toured and recorded together for more than thirty years. Their journey stretches from late night television spots like Conan O’Brien and The Tonight Show to the base of Japan’s Mt. Fuji and even shows inside North Carolina correctional facilities. Along the way they have shared bills with Link Wray, Loretta Lynn, Hasil Adkins, and Patti Smith. Their songs have appeared in movies and on TV, have been spoofed by “Weird Al” Yankovic, and have turned up in ads selling everything from diamonds to pork sausage. In 2014, the Southern Folklife Collection at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill honored the band with an exhibition recognizing their music and cultural impact. On stage they deliver a dance-ready jolt of rock and roll that Rolling Stone once characterized as a raucous party. Their most recent full-length album, At Home with Southern Culture on the Skids, arrived in March 2021, created during the stay-at-home period and captured largely in Rick Miller’s living room with additional recording at his studio, The Kudzu Ranch. The lead radio single, Run Baby Run, races on garage-born grit with Mary Huff out front while the band fires up heavy fuzz. Rooted in an earth focused concept that views nature as a mirror for our inner lives, the record spotlights her warm, soulful voice and a purposeful blend of Americana and indie rock shaped by acoustic textures and the organic feel of live playing, with contributions from guitarist Juan Solorzano and drummer Aksel Coe. A social contra dance in downtown Burlington features the Mad Robin Contra Collective, a group of local callers and musicians dedicated to presenting dances, building skills, and promoting the tradition. Contra dancing blends traditional New England folk roots with a modern spark, often compared to a mix of swing and square dancing. All are welcome, no partner or prior experience is needed, and each dance is taught with gender neutral calling. A beginner lesson is offered. An annual free fall gravel ride at Cochran's Ski Area brings the GMBC and RTF cycling community together to wrap up the season. Riders can choose from two mostly unpaved options of 44 and 57 miles, featuring long stretches of dirt and substantial climbing. Routes will not be marked and there will be no designated food stops or sag support, and navigation will be supported with maps and cue sheets. The event is organized by GMBC, with RTF hosting a post-ride cookout that includes burgers, brats, and soft drinks as a thank you to the community. Participants may bring their own beverage to toast the transition from outdoor riding to winter activities such as skiing and fat biking in Vermont. A mass start is planned, with flexibility for earlier individual rollouts and on-the-fly route adjustments, and a Burger Fest follows the ride. Sign-in is requested, and pre-registration is encouraged to help ensure there is enough food. With support from the Wild Kratts team and participation from crowd members, they face a comic villain and work to return animals to safety. The performance highlights creature fundamentals along with the contagious excitement and inspiring sense of discovery that have made the Emmy-nominated show a favorite for kids and families.

With Love From Vermont is hosting the Feed My Starving Children MobilePack at A.D. Lawton Intermediate School. The plan is to pack 101,088 meals, supported by a fundraising goal of $30,000 to purchase the food. This all ages show spotlights Judge, a foundational New York hardcore band formed in 1987 by John “Porcell” Porcelly and Mike “Judge” Ferraro, both alumni of Youth of Today. Their first release, the New York Crew seven inch on Porcell’s Schism label, included five tracks and a cover of Blitz’s Warriors. With Sammy Siegler on drums and Matt Pincus on bass, they recorded the full length Bringin’ It Down for Revelation Records, released in 1989. The group toured through 1991 and issued the There Will Be Quiet seven inch featuring The Storm. In 2013 they reunited for two New York City shows and have continued to perform across the United States and around the world. The lineup also features Get A Grip, veterans of Vermont’s 242 Main era who connect longtime fans and new faces through the power of hardcore. A special covers set honors Gary’s 60th birthday, with friends and Vermont scene stalwarts performing some of his favorites, including songs by The Wards and Misfits. Outnumbered, formed in 2024 with members from Rutland and Burlington, delivers straight up hardcore rather than metalcore, slam, or chug, and has already put out a self released demo along with a recent EP on Maine’s SVU Records.

Adam Ezra Group brings its community-driven live show to Higher Ground with an all-ages performance. What started with Adam playing solo has grown into an independent touring band known for meaningful connection and memorable nights. Expect a mix of folk and Americana, soulful songwriting, and rock energy that turns a room into a shared experience. The lineup features Adam Ezra with Corinna Smith on fiddle, Poche Ponce on bass, and Alex Martin on drums. Offstage, the group connects music and activism through RallySound and the fan-powered festival The Ramble. During the pandemic, Adam launched The Gathering Series, a nightly livestream that ran for 500 consecutive nights and continues as a touchstone for their community. As they move into the Revelate era, the recordings reflect the same authenticity and lived stories that define their concerts.

Things get underway with a kickoff to open the event.

All ages are welcome for a set by Rehash, an indie rock band from South Florida. What began with two high school students crafting songs at home grew into a fully self-sufficient project. In June 2023 they released their self-titled debut, Rehash, and they continue to handle every stage themselves, from writing and recording to production, mixing, and mastering. Their latest project, mock, arrived in June 2025 and has been embraced by fans. With more music in the works, the band is preparing for a landmark year.

The Nashville-formed quartet of Charles Michael Parks, Jr., Ben McLeod, Allan Van Cleave, and Christian Powers shapes arresting melodies that move between weight and lightness, charted across albums from Our Mother Electricity and Lightning at the Door through Nothing as the Ideal and House of Mirrors, their seventh full-length and first with BMG. A Candlelight tribute to British rock icons brings the music of Queen and The Beatles to the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington, all set in the warm glow of candlelight for an intimate, multi-sensory evening. At The Pinball Co-op, this capped matchplay tournament features six rounds with two games per round. Each round pairs one long and one short-playing machine, which is where the mix’em name comes from. The field is limited to 40 players with a $40 entry, plus a $20 door fee that is free for members. Five rounds use balanced pairing, round six uses swiss, and scoring follows 7-5-3-1. The top 16 advance to playoffs to compete for $1500 in cash and prizes. In playoffs, the top seed selects all game banks and the order of play, and no top seed may choose the same bank more than once. Ties are decided on pre-determined fast-playing games, and the top two from each group advance each round. Payouts are $350 for first, $250 for second, $150 for third, $100 for fourth, $50 for fifth through eighth, and $40 for ninth through sixteenth. Anyone who does not reach the playoffs is automatically entered into a 1-strike side tournament that begins immediately after regulation. This side tournament is not IFPA sanctioned, awards a trophy to the winner, and provides a prize to every eliminated player, with rewards increasing the longer you stay alive.

Kicking PancreAS is a community 5K at Burlington Waterfront that welcomes walkers and runners of every ability, encouraging participants to set a personal goal and move at a comfortable pace.
