Craig Mitchell, also known as Oliver Twisted, brings over three decades of DJ experience shaped by roots in Saginaw, Michigan near Detroit and a long connection to Burlington after attending Saint Michael’s College. A co-founder of the production team The Orange Factory, known for chart success, he has held residencies at New York City’s Tunnel and Limelight, Rise in Boston, Twist in Miami, and Terminal in Quebec City, with additional appearances at clubs in Texas and San Francisco, as well as performances for audiences in Canada, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica. He is currently focused on open format weekly nights and teaching in Burlington. At Red Square, the Left Eye Jump Band from Burlington, Vt. brings a blues repertoire grounded in Chicago, Texas, New Orleans, California, and Delta traditions, drawing heavily on the styles of the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. The music ranges from Delta slide guitar explorations to jump swing inspired by T-Bone Walker, then eases into slow blues ballads before kicking up Texas-flavored funk and a New Orleans rumba boogie pulse. Formed in 1997 by musicians steeped in the genre, the group has featured configurations from trio to octet with horns and continues to attract seasoned players devoted to the deep blues. Guitarist, vocalist, and bandleader Dennis Willmott traces his roots to early listening that included Leadbelly and Mance Lipscomb, formative encounters with Lightning Hopkins and the duo of Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, and performances in the Boston coffeehouse scene, later shifting to electric blues and connecting with collaborators through Vermont Blues Society jam sessions.

Dwight + Nicole, a Vermont-based soul and roots band led by singer songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Dwight Ritcher and Nicole Nelson, bring their powerful vocals and energetic live show back to Higher Ground for a hometown performance. Their sound blends soul, blues, R&B, and roots traditions, highlighting both artists as dynamic vocalists and instrumentalists. The show follows the release of their latest album, Day or Night. This event is open to all ages.

Next Stop Comedy brings a stand-up showcase to J Skis that changes with every performance. Each show spotlights a fresh mix of comedians, including performers with television appearances and popular podcast credits, for an upbeat night of laughs.

Set at Shelburne Farms, this signature Racevermont.com 5K is limited to 200 participants and often reaches capacity each year. The route blends packed gravel paths, wooded trails, open fields, and dirt roads for a varied running experience. Registration includes a finisher medal, and the event is available exclusively through Racevermont.com.

Young makers take center stage at this family-focused market showcase. Youth Vendor Day features vendors and visitors age 17 and under, offering a chance to learn about what it takes to vend at a farmers market. The day includes fun activities and guest tablers geared toward youth, creating a welcoming experience for families. Supported by Farm Credit East and Country Road Jamaican Flair.

North End Food Pantry hosts a monthly clothing and food drive that welcomes seasonal clothing for all ages as well as shelf-stable foods and personal care items. Clothing should be freshly laundered and free of pet hair, stains, and rips, and food donations must be unexpired. Items that make the biggest impact include diapers and wipes, menstrual care products with pads preferred, toilet paper, canned beans, canned meat or fish, canned fruits and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, pasta, and rice. As an all-volunteer nonprofit, the pantry provides free food, personal care items, and clothing, and community donations help neighbors meet essential needs with dignity. Volunteers are also being recruited to help sort donations during the monthly drive by opening bags and boxes, checking for quality, and organizing by type, gender, and age group. An all ages, seated evening with Hana Stretton and Helena Deland. British Australian composer, singer, and producer Hana Stretton is recognized for warmly textured, spacious songs. Her 2023 debut, Soon, earned a devoted international following and was reissued in 2024 by Phil Elverum on his label, who praised the record and her deeply attentive approach to sound. Her next album, tiarn, expected in summer 2026, shifts from the Australian bushland evoked on Soon to the Pacific, unfolding gradually with subtle classical and electronic touches. The release is independent, with vinyl editions planned through PW Elverum & Sun in North America, brierfield flood press in Australia, and Lima Limo in Europe and the UK. Montreal musician Helena Deland explores how songs can hold what escapes everyday language, drawing inspiration from reading and long walks. Her work includes the 2020 debut Someone New on Luminelle Recordings, Hildegard with Ouri on section1, and the singles Swimmer and Spring Bug on Chivi Chivi. She is announcing her first headline tour across North America and has toured widely in North America and Europe supporting Weyes Blood, Andy Shauf, Connan Mockasin, Soccer Mommy, and Iggy Pop.
