Presented by Showbox, Tomahawk appears at The Showbox with Melvins. The group unites guitarist Duane Denison of the Jesus Lizard and Unsemble, vocalist Mike Patton of Faith No More, Mr. Bungle and Fantômas, drummer John Stanier of Helmet and Battles, and bassist Trevor “field mouse” Dunn of Mr. Bungle and Fantômas. Their releases include the self-titled debut from 2001, Mit Gas, Anonymous, Oddfellows and Tonic Immobility. Oddfellows delivered the band’s strongest chart debut with a number 9 peak on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums and drew praise from outlets such as The A.V. Club, Revolver and Pitchfork. After releasing Tonic Immobility on their 20th anniversary, the band has returned to the stage to mark 25 years. This event is for ages 21 and over.

Seattle-based Hammond organist Joe Doria brings a versatile night of music to Sea Monster Lounge, reflecting the many styles he performs. He has supported Seattle-area solo artists and plays with groups such as McTuff, the Joe Doria Trio, The Drunken Masters, Skerik's Syncopated Taint Septet, and AriSawkaDoria, with some of these projects touring nationally. Each Tuesday he teams up with top local players for a collaborative set. There is no cover charge, and donations are appreciated.

Neumos presents Man Man, the project of Honus Honus (Ryan Kattner), whose music explores the tension between beauty and ugliness, order and chaos with intimate, soulful writing and bold invention. The Sub Pop debut Dream Hunting in the Valley of the In-Between, the first Man Man album in more than six years, spans 17 tracks including Cloud Nein, Future Peg, On the Mend, Sheela, and Animal Attraction. Produced with Cyrus Ghahremani, mixed by S. Husky Höskulds, and mastered by Dave Cooley, the record features guest vocals from Dre Babinski of Steady Holiday and Rebecca Black. Written during a period of reinvention and pieced together over several years, the material was tested live, then re-recorded with the band playing together to capture an organic, in-the-room feel. Chasing Abbey, an award-winning trio from Tullamore, Ireland, brings a high-energy performance to Occidental Square as part of Downtown Summer Sounds. Blending contemporary electronic production with the spirit of traditional Irish music, the group has achieved multiple platinum singles with tracks like “Arís is Arís,” “Íorónta,” and “Oh My Johnny,” and is known for dynamic shows that have energized audiences worldwide. Downtown Summer Sounds is presented by the Downtown Seattle Association, a long-running summer concert series that has offered free live music by local artists across downtown for over 45 years. The series is funded by the Metropolitan Improvement District ratepayers.

Dancing 'til Dusk invites everyone to step onto a real dance floor and turn two left feet into celebration. The evening begins with a welcoming dance lesson that is completely free, and no partner is required. Friends, dates, family members, or solo dancers are all encouraged. After the lesson, the momentum continues with a two hour stretch of live music beneath the open sky. Expect glowing lights, a lively atmosphere, and plenty of feel good energy. This edition features DJ Rebecca and Lia with West Coast Swing. It is free, outdoors, beginner friendly, and open to all vibes, with fun very likely. A free listening party at the Mural Amphitheatre spotlights hi hi hi, a genre-blending indie rock band from Seattle. Formed in 2023 out of late-night karaoke sessions and friendships in the International District, the trio channels an ever-evolving sense of home, weaving influences from 1960s surf rock, riot grrrl, 90s alternative, and more. The lineup features Le-Vy Nguyen on guitar and vocals, Jon Chu on bass and vocals, and Shaun Mejia on drums. Presented as part of Artists At the Center, a multi-year collaboration between the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture and Seattle Center with support from the Uptown Arts & Culture Coalition and nearby communities, the program offers performance opportunities that connect artists with new audiences and help advance creative careers. Visitors encounter surprising pop-up performances throughout the year, and each year’s roster is selected with an equity and social justice lens to ensure representation for underserved and emerging artists across music, dance, theater, demonstrations, and multidisciplinary work.

Showbox Presents brings Better Than Ezra to The Showbox with David Hill. Formed at Louisiana State University by Kevin Griffin and Tom Drummond, the New Orleans band built a reputation for catchy melodies, driving guitar work, and candid lyrics. Their catalog includes the chart-topping hit Good, and Taylor Swift later covered Breathless. They have celebrated the enduring impact of their debut album Deluxe, home to songs like Good, In the Blood, and Rosealia, and expanded their body of work with the tenth studio album Super Magick, featuring Live A Little and Grateful. Named among Billboard’s 100 Greatest Alternative Artists of All Time and even referenced in a Saturday Night Live sketch, they continue to headline tours and appear at major festivals. This is a 21 and over event.

Soldiers of Steel Festival returns to Substation with two days of music across two stages, framed by a Thursday pre-party and a Sunday matinee paired with a metal swap. Hadean from Portland joins the pre-party, Ironflame steps in for Sauron, Stainless tops the afterparty bill, and DJs Herr Zett and DJ Hammer will spin vinyl selections throughout the weekend. Thursday features Blood Star, Skelator, Dark Meditation and Hadean. Friday brings Liege Lord, Sacred Blade, The Accused AD, Tower Hill, Soul Grinder, Adamantis, Infinity Dream and Subversion Trigger. Saturday showcases Sanctuary, Hellwitch, Saint, Widow, Heavy Metal Shrapnel, Telomyras, Ironflame, Chamber Mage and Old Dirty BuzzardLeathurbitch. Sunday centers on a matinee afterparty with Stainless, with two more bands and vendors to be announced. The vendor deadline has been extended, and applications are open to metal and punk distros, record sellers, artists and makers. VIP tickets are $150 and include a pass for the full weekend with access to the pre-party and afterparty, a tote bag, a festival exclusive shirt with size selected at checkout, a patch, a program and a printed ticket.
