On the first Tuesday of each month, Wilder Inspiration sessions offer guided prompts from Art Garage staff and volunteers. Evergreen is holding auditions for It’s a Wonderful Life with opportunities for young performers ages 7 and up, and prior experience is not required. The production is directed by Paul Goska. Auditions will take place at Evergreen’s new space in the former Keller Elementary and will consist of cold readings from a provided script. Those reading for George will also complete a focused piece that highlights the ability to express despair and desperation through voice, movement, and facial expression. A wide range of roles are available, including George Bailey, Mary, Clarence, Mr. Potter, Uncle Billy, the Bailey children, and Bedford Falls townspeople such as Mr. Gower, Bert, Ernie, Violet, and the Martinis, with the possibility of additional ensemble parts at the director’s discretion. A parent meeting and read-through will be held before rehearsals begin. Young actors will be released on their rehearsal days, except during technical and dress rehearsals. Performances will follow the rehearsal period, with tech scheduled beforehand. The story follows George Bailey, an everyday man from Bedford Falls who, in a moment of crisis, is shown by his guardian angel how much his life matters to his family and community, echoing the season’s themes of faith, love, and support.
