Bank First is hosting a free community paper shredding event in Manitowoc that is open to the public. Participants are asked to bring a nonperishable food donation for each bag of personal documents they bring to shred, with all contributions directed to local food pantries. The event provides on-site, secure destruction of sensitive paperwork to help reduce the risk of identity theft. Confidential Records, an AAA certified shredding company, will operate mobile units staffed by licensed and bonded specialists and will ensure the secure removal of all shredded materials. Attendees may watch the process for added peace of mind. The event will proceed rain or shine, and businesses are asked not to participate so there is adequate space for community residents. Acceptable items include old tax returns, bank and credit card statements, medical records, and other personal documents. Items that cannot be accepted include black butterfly clips, hanging file folders, three ring binders, hard drives, magnetic tapes, and plastic items. Recent results underscore the program’s impact, with 87,600 pounds of paper shredded across 18 events in 2024 and 91,975 pounds processed across 20 locations in 2025.

Their catalog also expands to a quartet with horns and percussion or a full big band, with scores crafted for larger ensembles. Performances carry a vintage variety spirit, blending music, theater, humor, and an outsized stage presence. HIP, the Hockey Initiation Program, welcomes kids ages 4 to 10 who are new to skating or hockey. Sessions focus on building confidence on the ice while teaching core skills such as balance, edges, forward and backward movement, puck control, passing, shooting, and stopping. One beneficiary is Silent Flags, Inc., a veteran owned nonprofit in Chilton, Wisconsin that provides personalized handcrafted flag display cases to the families of deceased veterans at no cost, helping ensure their service is remembered. New to axe throwing is welcome, with a coach on hand to guide first timers. Proceeds support the Patriot Riders of America WI Chapter 2 and their mission to assist Wisconsin veterans through housing, medical, and personal assistance, as well as outreach visits in the community. Registration is available for four person teams at a $40 entry fee, and teams should choose a name. Liability waivers must be completed through Tapped on the Lakeshore before competing. The competition follows a bracket format with double elimination, and trophies and prizes are awarded to the top three teams. Payment options include Cash, Check, Chamber Bucks, CashApp, Venmo, and PayPal. For Venmo and PayPal, include the suggested donation fee so the full entry fee is received. Registration for the 5K is offered at three price points, with early registration at 35 dollars and regular registration at 40 dollars both guaranteeing shirt size, and late registration at 45 dollars without a size guarantee. The 1 mile walk is 20 dollars and does not include a t shirt. Awards will recognize the best group costume, best individual costume, the top three male and female finishers, and the best dog costume. Early packet pickup will be available at the Two Rivers Community House recreation desk, and day of packet pickup and zombie face painting will be offered at Central Park East before the start. Awards will take place after the race, and restrooms at the Community House and Central Park West will be open at the start and finish. The race is chip timed with results posted online. Finisher medals and t shirts are provided. Headphones are allowed. Strollers are welcome at the back of the pack. A parking map will be available, and real or replica weapons are not permitted. All proceeds benefit the Two Rivers Parks and Recreation Department Youth Sports Equipment and Financial Aid Fund, and donations are appreciated. An optional 8 week 5K training program is available in partnership with Fleet Feet and Two Rivers Parks and Recreation for 40 dollars per participant.
