    Arrested Development

Minneapolis · Dakota, 1010 Nicollet Mall

Arrested Development brings a spirited, soul-nourishing live show rooted in optimism and social consciousness. Emerging about three decades ago as a hopeful counterpoint to gangsta rap, the group went on to win the Grammy for Best New Artist and also took home Best Rap Single for the anthemic Tennessee, a song later honored by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame among the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll and by VH1 in its 100 Greatest Songs of the 90s. With Mr. Wendal, they pushed the issue of homelessness into the spotlight and donated half of that single’s royalties to the National Coalition for the Homeless. Their platform also supported global causes, including contributions to Nelson Mandela and the ANC. The album 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life of... earned two Grammys, and further accolades followed with MTV and Soul Train honors plus an Image Award. They also wrote Revolution for Spike Lee’s film Malcolm X, adding another cultural milestone to their catalog. Recognitions from outlets like Rolling Stone, which named them Band of the Year in 1992, and VH1 have affirmed their lasting impact. This performance highlights uplifting hip hop, acclaimed hits and a track record of giving back.
