While settling his late mother’s cottage on the wind‑swept Donegal coast, he works to build trust with her border collie and to find his place in the village of Dunnybegs, a community rich in character and archaeological heritage. Over the course of a year he bonds deeply with the dog, explores the shoreline, and begins photographing their journeys. Their images draw international attention on social media, bringing local fame and pulling them into a struggle over the future of Killfish Bay as outside interests circle and an offer is made on the cottage. Woods was born in Scotland to Irish parents and spent parts of his childhood in Derry before emigrating to Canada and later the United States. He is a freelance editor and writer based in Milwaukee, where he lives with his partner and their two dogs, and his two adult children live nearby. His work includes co‑authoring Irish Wit and Wisdom and co‑founding the former Irish American Post magazine, where he served as managing editor. He is a past recipient of the Milwaukee County Arts Fellowship Individual Arts Grant for Fiction Writing. This free program is geared toward adults but welcomes all ages. Children under 12 must attend with an adult, and registration is not required.
