Art Cart EXTRA from the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art is back on the road with a free program at Fireman's Park. It offers art programs for children ages 3 and up who attend with a parent or guardian. Registration is not required.

PokeConnect Card Show brings Pokémon and trading card game fans together at East Towne Mall. Admission is free. Attendees can trade their collections with fellow enthusiasts, browse rare cards, sealed items, and unique collectibles from professional vendors, and connect with a community of collectors. Whether you are just starting out or have been collecting for years, the show provides a place to meet others, discover new finds, and celebrate the hobby.

At Kilkenny Farms Park, this summer gathering features good food, friendly company, and Frios Pops for a relaxed evening in the park.

Explore oil painting in a camp that makes a complex medium approachable through clear, supportive instruction. While the tools and guidelines can seem overwhelming at first, participants discover why generations of master artists favored oils. The medium offers a luminous quality, flexibility across techniques, textured surfaces, and rich depths of tone. Students get familiar with essential materials, learn two classic methods, glazing and alla prima, complete a practice piece for each approach, and then create a final still life on a subject they choose using their preferred technique. By the end, they understand the conventions of oil painting and feel confident adapting them to craft expressive, personal artwork. The program encourages independence while welcoming caregiver support for children who benefit from having a parent or guardian present.

An evening in the park brings a variety of flavors together as a mix of food carts and trucks gather in one place. The scheduled lineup features LT's Aloha Wagon, El Alegre, and Thailand in a Truck. It is a relaxed outdoor setting where friends and family can share a meal and sample different options all in one stop.

Enjoy an evening of live music on the Kind Stage at the Sun Prairie Public Library. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome. Krause Family Band is the featured act with a one hour set. At the heart of the group are Katie, Ruthie, and their father Rick, who sing together and move among a variety of instruments. Paul Otteson and Gwendolyn Mae start the show with a 30 minute performance. Otteson, a Wisconsin songwriter, shares literature influenced, carefully crafted songs in an intimate chamber folk approach. Settle in for a screening of The Princess Bride, a 98-minute U.S. feature directed by Rob Reiner and presented from Blu-ray. This fairy tale adventure follows a young woman and her true love as they reconnect after a long separation, confronting the dangers of the kingdom of Florin. Adapted from William Goldman’s novel, the film has cultivated a devoted following. The program is part of Lakeside Cinema, organized by the student-led Wisconsin Union Directorate Film Committee within the Summer by the Lake series at the Wisconsin Union, with an 80s throwback theme. Seating on the Terrace is unreserved and available in order of arrival, and if weather is poor the screening is planned to move indoors to der Rathskeller in Memorial Union. An on-site Brat Stand will offer a special deal featuring $1 hot dogs, chips, and sodas. Assistive options are provided for WUD Film screenings. Attendance is intended for UW–Madison students, faculty, staff, Wisconsin Union members, and their guests, and anyone may become a Wisconsin Union member.

At Bakken Park, themed stories are paired with corresponding STEAM projects that explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Each session links the story to an activity that reflects the theme.

Enjoy a nature-themed story with the Dane County Library System and a special visit from the Dream Bus. The group meets under the Oak Tree in front of the Heritage Center for a short reading, followed by a simple craft and the chance to check out books from the Dream Bus. Story time alternates weekly between English and Spanish, with programming rotating between bilingual Spanish and English weeks. Bring blankets, chairs, snacks, and anything else needed to stay comfortable. An adult chaperone must attend with children. This free program welcomes all ages, and no registration is required. If the weather is poor, the story time will be canceled.

Bank of Sun Prairie presents this installment of the Concerts in the Park series at Wetmore Park, featuring a performance by The No Name String Band. Their sound blends old-time fiddle roots with jazz and funk improvisation, Latin rhythms, and a touch of classical discipline for a fresh twist. Family-friendly fun is part of the program with a special appearance from Boo Mullarky for kids. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, with food trucks including Travelin Toms Coffee, Sabor Queretano, Kona Ice, Thailand in a Truck, and Little Sister Cookies. Attendees can bring a lawn chair and enjoy live music, games, and a welcoming community atmosphere. All summer long, the Movers & Makers series brings literacy to life with crafts, activities, and adventures. A parade goes from the Glen Grove apartments to Northlawn.

Participants gather at Cottage Grove Parks & Recreation for a simple, no-fuss puzzle swap. Attendees place the puzzles they brought out for others to see, browse the selection, choose the ones that catch their interest, and head home with a different assortment than they arrived with. There is no tally of how many items are brought or taken, since the collection circulates from month to month and the goal is for everyone to discover something new each time. Please use the entrance at the back of the building through the green door.

Weekly sessions highlight a new theme with stories, songs, and interactive activities. The program is geared toward babies, toddlers, and preschool-aged children, and during the summer it is open to attendees of any age. Events take place at Community Park in Cottage Grove.

The Summer Series brings live, family-friendly entertainment to Fireman’s Park in DeForest alongside the Night Market. The 608, a three piece acoustic group, performs a fresh blend of country and pop that differs from their Madison County shows, creating an easygoing soundtrack for a relaxed night at the park. Shop local vendors for unique and handmade goods while taking in the music. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from vendors including Any Street Grill, Café Costa Rica, Sabor Queretano, Toast, Curt’s Gourmet, Ribmasters WI, Culinary Nivana, DonutNV, Frios Gourmet Pops, and Curd Girl.
