Hosted by the City of Montgomery Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with Board Member Darlene Skier and District 9 Councilman Charles Jinwright, the Inaugural Jewell Pitts Memorial Pickleball Classic brings a round robin competition to Dean Fain Park. The tournament features nine divisions across men’s, women’s, and mixed play, with skill levels for beginner 2.5 to 3.0, intermediate 3.5 to 4.0, and advanced 4.5 and above. Participants may enter up to two categories. Registration is 50 dollars per person for each category, and partners must register separately. A total of 5,000 dollars in prize money is allocated across all advanced divisions, with additional awards for winners and finalists in every category. The schedule places mixed doubles on one day, with women’s and men’s doubles on another.

Hosted by COSA CARES, this newly launched recovery meeting is for women and is free to attend.

The Touch a Truck Block Party at First Methodist Church Wetumpka offers hands-on exploration for families. Children can check out a variety of big vehicles, including an ambulance, firetruck, police car, wrecker, vintage vehicles, and motorcycles, with more on display. Montgomery Pride United offers a support group for trans, gender-nonconforming, and questioning adults ages 19 and up. It provides a supportive space to talk about challenges and celebrate successes among peers. Meetings are facilitated by a transgender Alabama state certified peer specialist at the Bayard Rustin Community Center.

Strengthen your confidence and capability underwater with a course dedicated to preventing problems and responding effectively when emergencies arise. You will build knowledge in the classroom, then apply it through practical rescue exercises and realistic scenarios. Training covers self rescue, spotting and managing stress in fellow divers, coordinating emergency responses and equipment, and carrying out rescues for both panicked and unresponsive divers. Participants must be at least 12 years old, be physically able to complete the required skills, and hold current O2 Provider, First Aid, and CPR credentials that are no more than two years old when certification is issued. This certification is required to become a Master Diver.

This recurring league centers on Magic: The Gathering's Commander format. The entry fee is $10.
