A free reception at the Tucson J celebrates Meditation & Metaphor: Ceramic Sculpture & Watercolors by Tracy Ann Holmes. Inspired by the colors and life of the Sonoran Desert, her observations lead to questions that evolve into studies. After sketching and gathering references, she translates these concepts into clay, creating sculptural works that extend her visual metaphors. Open Studio at the SAWG Gallery welcomes artists of every experience level to bring their own supplies and enjoy a relaxed, creative session in the gallery. It also includes a look at the historic Pima County Courthouse, built over portions of the former presidio wall. The path continues through Presidio Plaza to view public art, then returns past some of the earliest Territorial period homes in the El Presidio Historic District. The tour starts and finishes at Brandylion Spirits and Tea House next to the Tucson Presidio Museum, and participants can cap the experience with a drink at Brandylion.
