Paddlers head to a sheltered cove where a DJ performs from an illuminated pontoon boat surrounded by paddleboards, kayaks, lights, and open water. Back on shore, the celebration continues with additional DJ sets, fire spinning, glowing art, burner-inspired style, and a ceremonial burn of the event’s own man. The focus is community, music, movement, and connection. All experience levels are welcome. The paddle is relaxed and social rather than competitive, and participants should feel comfortable on the water after dark or stay near experienced paddlers. For safety, everyone is asked to remain with the group, follow lead and sweep paddlers, stay visible, keep a safe distance from the pontoon boat, and be mindful of other vessels. Fire performances and the burn take place on land and may be adjusted for weather, safety, or site conditions. On course, participants practice recovering from skids on a wet surface, executing quick lane changes to avoid hazards, applying threshold braking and using ABS effectively, and running a slalom to feel how weight transfer affects handling. When conditions allow, the day can also include a two wheels off recovery and a safe following distance exercise. Classroom topics cover proper seating and hand placement, mirror setup, the tire contact patch, the principles of weight transfer, long-range vision, and situational awareness, along with the challenges posed by distractions such as radios, phones, or too many passengers. A semi truck blind spot demonstration may be staged so students and adults can experience how many nearby cars are hidden from the driver’s view, and an airbag deployment may be shown to reinforce correct hand position.
