Jasper, a Bay Area native, began dancing in 2009 through a high school hip hop club, later leading the group and discovering a love for teaching. In 2021, he performed with a team featured on Season 16 of America’s Got Talent, then continued to teach, compete, and perform across the United States and abroad, including Los Angeles, Seattle, Texas, Paris, and Jamaica. Drawing on decades of experience, including extended stretches with Joe Henderson and Clark Terry and collaborations with artists such as Kenny Barron, Gary Bartz, Billy Taylor, Dianne Reeves, Gregory Porter and John Clayton, Cuenca anchors a lineup featuring Grammy Award winning pianist David Kikoski, a longtime member of the Mingus Big Band who has recorded and performed with Roy Haynes, Michael Brecker, Chick Corea, Dave Holland and John Scofield, and acclaimed bassist Essiet Essiet, whose career includes Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Bobby Watson’s Horizon, Abdullah Ibrahim and the Blue Note All-Stars. Representing the rising generation are saxophonist and composer Rico Jones, whose 2025 debut BloodLines received a four star DownBeat review and a spot on the magazine’s Best Albums of 2025 list, and trumpeter Wallace Roney Jr., son of Wallace Roney and Geri Allen, who has already appeared with Chick Corea, Jimmy Heath, Lenny White and Buster Williams. The quintet presents original works by both the emerging artists and the seasoned players, weaving swing, blues, Latin currents and Brazilian grooves into a program that highlights jazz as a living tradition, grounded in history and energized by new voices.

Tour de Cure in Northern California brings cyclists together at HP’s Palo Alto campus for a day on the road and a celebration of progress against diabetes. Organized by the American Diabetes Association, the ride raises awareness, strengthens community connections, and supports prevention and management efforts toward a future free of diabetes and its burdens. Riders can choose from three routes, 100K, 50K, or 10K, welcoming everyone from newcomers to experienced cyclists. After crossing the finish line, participants can enjoy food and drinks, live performances, a kids area, VIP spaces, and the Wellness Village. Riders must register to participate, and the event is also seeking volunteers.

Presented by the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District, 10K on the Bay offers distances for every pace. Choose the one mile family fun run, the 5K at 3.1 miles, or the 10K at 6.2 miles. Every course begins and ends at the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center, where sweeping bay views and refreshing coastal air keep the miles enjoyable.
