Presented by Connecticut Public at College Street Music Hall, The Moth Mainstage is a two-part live storytelling program with a musical performance and a well known host. Five storytellers step up with real, first person tales told from memory, exploring a wide range of themes. These stories will be recorded for future episodes of The Moth Podcast and The Moth Radio Hour. The Moth is a nonprofit devoted to the craft of storytelling and to honoring both our differences and what we share. Over the past 25 years it has brought more than 40,000 unscripted personal stories to packed rooms and to audiences around the world, producing about 600 in person and virtual shows each year and maintaining a presence in 28 cities. Through its Education, Community and Global Programs, and MothWorks, it also offers workshops for students, teachers, adults and advocates that use Moth storytelling principles as tools for empathetic communication. The outing begins near sunset, with time on the water as the sky shifts through vivid colors. If conditions allow, the route may extend to Charles Island for a brief stop to snack or swim, followed by a peaceful return under moonlight with the sounds of the sea all around. This experience is for experienced paddlers only. A hands-free light is required and can be reserved in advance, such as a headlamp, deck lighting, a lantern, or a Luci light. Participants bringing their own boat must wear a personal flotation device, carry a whistle, and have proper lighting. Reservations are required and space is limited. The outing lasts approximately three hours. Pricing is 75 dollars for rentals or 35 dollars for those bringing their own boat.
