This free Cancer Self-Management series at Kent County Public Library, presented in partnership with HealthyDelaware, shares practical tools for living with cancer. Participants explore ways to prevent or delay health complications, learn techniques for managing frustration, fatigue, pain, isolation, poor sleep, and uncertainty, consider how to evaluate and make decisions about treatment and complementary therapies, and build skills for communicating more effectively with family, friends, and health professionals. Pre-registration is requested. The program will run only if at least eight people register.

Take part in a free gathering focused on Pokemon TCG, Pokemon VCG, and Pokemon GO. Newcomers can learn the basics, then face other players when ready, all in a family friendly setting that makes it easy to meet fellow Pokemon fans. Activities take place inside The Lair, the new shop located behind Red Bandana. Outside food and drinks are not allowed, and refreshments are available for purchase at The Lair’s snack bar. Calling ahead to reserve a seat is appreciated to help with the head count. Public parking is available nearby.

Garden Day at the John Bell House welcomes volunteers to support First State Heritage Park by caring for a trio of vegetable and herb gardens while taking part in historical interpretation. Participants explore plants common to colonial-era gardens and how they were used, learn foundational gardening practices from that period, and help with weeding, watering, general upkeep, and harvesting as needed. Historical clothing is available to wear, and the park provides trowels, watering cans, and gloves. No experience is required, and experienced gardeners are welcome. It is also an opportunity to give back to the community in the setting of the state’s first urban park without boundaries.

The session explains what an IEP is, clarifies the difference between accommodations and modifications, and offers guidance on preparing for an IEP meeting. Attendees also receive insights on laws, strategies, and practical advice to better support a child's education. This free program is open to parents, guardians, and educators, with registration available online or by phone.
