A Cuban-American comedian and author with a PhD in Exercise Biochemistry and Nutrition research, she shifted from teaching college nutrition to touring nationally, delivering stand-up that mixes intelligence with a playful edge. She created, hosts, and produces the traveling showcase Comedians in Drag doing Comedy, which has appeared in more than 40 cities across the United States and Canada, and she has opened for Steve-O, Bob the Drag Queen, and Emma Willmann. Her material draws on her academic background, translating technical topics through comedy, and merchandise will be available at the end of the show. There is a two item minimum per person inside the club, satisfied by any combination of snacks or beverages, and seating is in order of arrival.

Set out from Moody Boat Ramp for a guided paddle on the Intracoastal, weaving through narrow mangroves to a quiet lagoon with a sandy spot to rest before completing an approximately 3.5 mile loop back to the launch. A guide will lead the group and another will support from the back. After the paddle, participants can make their way to Coquina Coast Brewing for locally crafted beer and time to connect. Each ticket includes one pint, and the brewery is offering specials for the paddle group. Coquina Coast Brewing will also be running a Spring Fling Turtle Patrol fundraiser, and Paddle Florida Now will donate all cash tips from the day to Flagler Turtle Patrol. This outing suits most people with proper preparation. Having at least one prior paddle is recommended, along with plenty of water, snacks if needed, sun protection such as a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses, and a change of clothes and a towel to leave in your vehicle. The distance and occasional current make it a good fit for those who enjoy longer sessions on a paddle board or kayak. Rentals are available, with paddle boards and single kayaks priced at 55 dollars per person and including the vessel, paddle, adult life jacket and safety whistle. Bringing your own vessel is 15 dollars per person, and you should bring your own life jacket. Children under 12 must have a properly fitted life jacket and wear it throughout the paddle. Space is limited to 30 participants, so reservations are encouraged.

During the first visit, apply a base coat and practice techniques that establish texture and dimension. Return at a time that works for you to add a second coat, using Sherry’s own paint method to achieve a three dimensional wave effect. At Cut Up and Sew in Palm Coast, Carrie and Judy co-host a hands-on, five-session Baby Lock Serger Academy designed to help users confidently operate their Baby Lock serger and coverstitch machines. Owners of Baby Lock air thread models will find the curriculum especially relevant. Each session stands alone, and the fee applies to each individual class, so participants may choose the topics that fit their needs. The first three sessions focus on serger techniques. Session 1 covers overlock fundamentals, including the Baby Lock thread guide, loopers and needles, stitch settings for width, length, differential feed, and rolled hems, common stitches such as 4-thread, 3-thread, rolled, and lettuce edge, plus turning corners and finishing thread tails. Session 2 explores specialty options like wave stitches where available, two-thread stitches and flatlock, working with specialty and decorative threads, and using thread cradles with heavy threads. Session 3 highlights overlock feet and techniques, including ruffle, piping, lace, elastic, and beading feet, zipper installation, making custom piping, blind hems, curves, and seam allowance accuracy, as well as creative approaches like serger crochet and overlock quilt piecing. A 30 hour Community Emergency Response Team basic course is offered by Flagler County Emergency Management and Flagler Volunteer Services at the Flagler County Emergency Operations Center. Designed for residents who want to help after emergencies, the training builds practical skills that can be used at home, in the neighborhood, or in the workplace when professional responders may be delayed. Participants learn about disaster readiness, team organization, disaster medical care, disaster psychology, fire safety and utility control, light search and rescue, and how CERT principles relate to terrorism. The series concludes with a comprehensive review, a final exam, and a realistic disaster exercise that leads to graduation. Attendance at every session is required to earn certification, with the option to make up missed classes in future basic courses. Digital manuals, CERT backpacks, and all course materials are included. A printed manual is available for a small fee, and graduates receive a T-shirt and a CERT ID.

Between ten and twelve rounds keep the fun going, with more than twenty prizes available, including a dozen live plants. Residents interested in supporting the community during emergencies or disasters can take part in a session of the Disaster Volunteer Training Series hosted by Flagler County Emergency Management with Flagler Volunteer Services. Taking place at the Flagler County Emergency Operations Center, the training prepares volunteers to assist the Emergency Call Center by teaching the skills needed to complete initial call intake for people affected by emergency situations.
