Billed as Florida’s premier off-road ultra endurance challenge, this coast-to-coast adventure blends bikepacking, packrafting, and ultra running in a first-of-its-kind format in the United States. The route spans roughly 250 to 300 miles across mixed terrain that includes singletrack, forest roads, paved sections, bike trails, double track, and grassy abandoned easements. It is a personal, at-your-own-risk undertaking. A recommended group start is offered, yet participants may choose their own start time by coordinating an official start with the organizer in advance. Navigation is by GPX file only. A GPS unit is required, with a Garmin Etrex 20 or better recommended. Honoring a long-standing river crossing tradition, participants may packraft across the river using either a short or a long crossing that can shorten the approximately 300-mile route by about 40 to 50 miles. Those who prefer not to packraft may ride to renegades and attempt to arrange a boat ride across with locals who own boats. Live tracking is part of the experience. A tracking device is required, an online page will display progress, and organizers will reach out to confirm tracking options. An optional shuttle is available for a limited number of riders, transporting from Inglis to New Smyrna Beach, with designated parking located about five miles from the finish. The shuttle costs $130 and is refundable if canceled at least four weeks before the event start date. Participants choosing the longer packraft option are advised to begin from the western terminus, and a separate shuttle serves that approach. Route materials will be shared via a Google Drive folder, along with an RWGPS event link. Files are licensed to each individual and must be downloaded and opened with compatible software. Once route information is released, there are no refunds. Rules emphasize self-sufficiency and fair play. The course must be completed under your own power, with exceptions only for medical emergencies. Drafting is not allowed. Participants must carry themselves safely and may resupply only at commercial establishments along or near the route. No prearranged support or SAG vehicles are permitted. Three checkpoints require proof of passage through photographs and, in some cases, video. Evidence can be emailed for verification or posted to Facebook or Instagram for review. There is no time limit or cutoff, and a mass start is available for those beginning with the group. Entry is based on a minimum donation of $80. In return, participants receive the route file, the trail guide, a waypoint restock file, and one souvenir. Families with preschoolers can explore early learning together at the Daytona Beach Regional Library during this month’s Tiny Tots Tuesday, presented with support from PNC Bank and in partnership with The Early Learning Coalition of Flagler and Volusia.
