America’s Boating Course is an in-person class that covers essential skills for safe time on the water and meets Florida’s boating education requirements. Thanks to a grant from the Charlotte County Marine Advisory Committee, there is no cost to attend. Completing a boating course can help reduce the risk of accidents and injuries, may lower boat insurance premiums, and qualifies participants for the Florida Boater Education Card, which is required for some operators of boats powered by 10 horsepower or more. The program spans 12 hours and includes an introduction to using local nautical charts to build confidence in navigation.
