GYAC’s Mobile Food Pantry offers a drive-thru distribution in the GYAC parking lot, providing support to neighbors in need twice a month. With help from Treasure Coast Food Bank, Shining Light Garden, For The Love of Paws, and dedicated volunteers, the pantry supplies perishable and shelf-stable groceries along with cat and dog food. MRC operates one of Florida’s largest licensed mangrove nurseries at its Sebastian property, caring for roughly 9,000 plants that include red, white, and black mangroves used in restoration projects across the state. This workshop invites volunteers to support nursery maintenance while learning about mangrove care and restoration efforts. Activities typically involve potting, repotting, weeding, and watering. Plan for Florida heat and humidity. Hats, water, sunscreen or UPF clothing, and closed-toe shoes are required. Gloves, shovels, and kneepads are available, and volunteers may bring their own. There is no bathroom or water refill station on site, so bring a filled water bottle.

Parents and caregivers are a child’s first teachers, and simple everyday moments can have a big impact on early development. This free five-part class series from The Learning Alliance is designed for parents, family members, and caregivers of children from birth to age five. Each session shares practical, research-based strategies from The Basics Learning Network that support brain growth, language skills, and social emotional learning through daily interactions at home. Topics include showing love and managing stress, talking, singing and pointing, counting, grouping and comparing, exploring through movement and play, and reading and discussing stories. The techniques are easy to weave into routines like meals, bath time, play time, and bedtime. Hosted by The Learning Alliance. Those who complete all five classes receive a $100 Walmart gift card.

Loaves and Fishes Fort Pierce, a nonprofit with 501(c)(3) status, offers a free Sunday Dinner for neighbors experiencing homelessness or food insecurity in and around Fort Pierce. Alongside the meal, a complimentary commissary provides clothing, outdoor living supplies, and personal hygiene items, supported by donations from REACH Community Church and the St. Lucie County community. Each week features homemade dishes prepared and served with the help of volunteers.
