Books & Bubbles is a cozy story time for children ages 0 to 5 that blends music with time to play. Kids can listen to stories, enjoy the tunes, and spend time playing.

Created in partnership with the Sowega Council on Aging, this welcoming, senior-accessible salsa class invites people of all experience levels to connect through movement and music. Participants learn core salsa steps at a comfortable pace while exploring rhythm, style, and the cultural dimension of the dance. The session encourages personal expression and musicality, building confidence along with balance, coordination, and overall well-being in a supportive setting that nurtures creativity and community. No partner is required. Please plan to arrive a bit early to register, and wear hard-soled shoes or socks. Each class costs $10, with free admission for individuals 60 and older. Each month, the closing moments feature a brief functional medicine wellness topic with Izzie Sadler that offers practical tips to support health and well-being.

At The Cool Place - Albany, this sanctioned Commander (EDH) event features pod play that advances to a final winners pod. Entry is $5, with $4 added to the prize pool and $1 going to the shop. Every participant receives at least one promo, with additional prize support awarded to top-ranked players. Prizes are issued as store credit and or promos. Participation promos come from official WOTC Promo Packs that are shuffled and redistributed at random. Players are seated in pods of up to four, or divided as evenly as possible based on attendance. The structure is single elimination, with the winner of each pod advancing until the final winners pod is set and played out to determine 1st through 4th. Gold Border cards are allowed. Proxies are not permitted. For paid Commander events here, a brief 5 to 10 minute grace period may be granted for late arrivals who inform someone at the event. Players arriving after the start or grace period can still be added with applicable round losses. Each game is timed at 1.5 hours. When time is called, the active player finishes their turn, then each other player takes one additional turn. The player with the highest life total then wins, and remaining life totals determine placements when relevant. These events may not run if another priority event, such as a pre-release, is scheduled at the same time.

Depending on donations and partnerships, additional items may include baby food or formula, prenatal and postpartum materials, personal care products, pantry and food assistance, household necessities, items for infants and children, and occasional seasonal offerings. Inventory varies from month to month as it is driven by community support. These giveaways are made possible through the generosity of businesses, organizations, churches, community leaders, and individuals across Southwest Georgia. Partnering with I Am Legacy PTCA offers a way to reach local families, highlight programs or services, demonstrate community leadership, and provide meaningful help to parents and children while strengthening the broader community.

BLOOM is a series of welcoming, informational gatherings in Albany designed for pregnant and postpartum Black families. Presented by the Georgia Black Doula Network, Birthing Love, Outreach, and Optimal Motherhood creates supportive spaces to share stories, connect with others, and gain practical knowledge that promotes healthy outcomes during pregnancy, birth, and the early months of parenting. Each session focuses on a distinct topic and is led by a community expert. The tentative 2026 lineup features offerings such as Birth to Bloom, which centers on mindful preparation for labor and early parenthood with relaxation and stress reduction practices, Baby and Me, which highlights infant development, bonding, and hands-on care including babywearing, diapering, massage, and soothing, Crafting a Birth Plan, which helps participants understand informed consent and communicate preferences on pain relief, movement, interventions, newborn care, and the postpartum period, Comfort Measures for Birth, which practices techniques like breathing, positioning, movement, massage, counterpressure, visualization, and the use of tools such as birth balls and hot or cold therapy, and Postpartum Table Talk, which addresses recovery, breastfeeding, infant care, mental health, and building a support network.
