Kids Garden Day features an Enchanted Garden themed scavenger hunt. Participants visit a series of spots to collect different materials, then use them to assemble their own enchanted garden at the finish. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from Fat City Kid Food Truck. Supplies and activities are available while supplies last.

A new summer series welcomes kids to move, imagine, and connect through playful, well-structured yoga. Each class builds mindfulness, strength, flexibility, coordination, and creativity. Children practice cooperating with others, sharing space, and exploring both lively movement and quiet stillness. Week by week, the foundations of yoga grow stronger while new poses spark curiosity, channel energy, and support focus and fun. Pretzel Jungle brings energy and focus together, nurturing strength, confidence, and connection through yoga, creativity, and community. Led by Miss Lauren. Sessions are 60 minutes.

The Foundation for TJO Animals celebrates a decade of Pets Rock with an afternoon concert that raises funds for animals cared for through the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center. The lineup features live performances by Project 267, Tough Customer, and The Berkshires, with Pat Kelly from Rock 102.1 serving as emcee. Food trucks on site include Madd Eatz, Crave, Sweet Treats 413, Citrus & Soiree, and Squirrel, A Dog Bistro. Expect vendors, raffles, a cash bar, and the popular Booze Toss game. General admission is 25 dollars per person, with tickets at the door priced at 30 dollars. Event tees are available for 20 dollars while supplies last, and a limited 10th anniversary shirt is offered for 40 dollars. Each registration includes one raffle ticket for a special lottery basket door prize. HydroDog will provide on-site dog bathing and grooming, and Dogwalkers will host a special raffle. Donations will be collected for the Reese Pet Food Initiative. Bringing a pet food donation earns one raffle ticket for the lottery basket door prize per person. Requested items include wet or dry dog and cat food, treats with no rawhides, and new toys. There will be shaded areas for people and their dogs, including a covered pavilion. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Dogs that are comfortable with crowds, other dogs, and loud sounds are welcome and must remain leashed at all times. Hailing from Clarksdale, Mississippi, he carries the spirit of the Delta while steering the music into new territory. Hard Road, his most personal and far-reaching project, reflects a path from standout local talent to a global standard-bearer for a new generation of blues. His playing honors influences like B.B. King, Albert King, and Buddy Guy, and he broadens the sound by blending funk, soul, hip hop, pop, and jazz into a modern fusion. His debut album, Kingfish, earned a Grammy nomination and led the Billboard Blues chart for 91 weeks. The follow-up, 662, named for his Mississippi area code, won the 2022 Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album. Live in London captured a sold-out performance and received another Grammy nomination, reinforcing his reputation as a commanding live artist.

An immersive week of comedy improvisation designed for ages 9 to 15. Participants explore improv games, sketch work, and long form approaches to build quick thinking and spark creativity. Led by the Drama Studio Improv Faculty with special guests, the intensive concludes with an unscripted showcase for family and friends. This full day program is $525.

RAD Springfield brings a mobile community bike shop to neighborhoods across the city, offering hands-on repair education and access to tools. Participants can bring bicycles for service or donate bikes. Technicians refurbish and prepare donations for resale or to return to the community, and in many cases provide free bikes to residents who need transportation. Volunteers are welcome to learn repair skills or share their expertise in an inclusive, multicultural setting open to all ages. This is a drop-in event with no registration required.

Monday Funday offers a different hands on activity each week to make Monday afternoons lively. Look forward to play, building, crafting, and plenty of creativity. This Chair Yoga session adapts yoga to a chair so movement is accessible for many abilities. Explore improvisation in a six-week class created for adults. Participants 16 and older may take part with parent permission. The course develops quick thinking, attentive listening, collaboration, scene work, and character relationships, all in a supportive environment with plenty of laughs. All experience levels are welcome, and everyone progresses at a comfortable pace. Instruction is led by Phantom Sheep Players, the longest-running professional comedy troupe in Western MA. At Springfield City Library, Carolyn of Magic Tree Henna offers free henna tattoos created especially for teens. Explore this timeless art form with a skilled artist. The paste is made with all natural ingredients, including organic henna powder, lemon juice, sugar, tea tree oil, and lavender oil. Designs typically last one to three weeks. For tweens and teens.

Choose a challenge card and try to build its prompt using the library’s LEGO pieces, or enjoy a free build just for fun. DUPLO bricks will also be available. Finished creations will be showcased in the Youth Room for the week. This is a drop-in activity.
