The Westover Galaxy Community Council brings back its Run the Runway experience with support from the Westover Metropolitan Airport team and military partners at Westover Air Reserve Base. Participants can run or walk directly on the runway at what is described as the nation’s largest air reserve base. A shirt deadline applies, and registrations submitted after that point are not guaranteed a shirt or the correct size. Registration prices also increase after the deadline. For vendor matters, only announcements and registrations issued by the Westover Galaxy Community Council are legitimate.

Access is available to anyone with a Northampton waste sticker or a ReCenter-only sticker, which is sold on site. Sticker holders are welcome even if they do not reside in Northampton.

Organized by the Winchester Conservation Commission in partnership with Friends of Main Street Winsted, this community cleanup at East End Park focuses on removing litter along Winsted streets to keep public spaces clean, support clear water flow, and protect native plants and wildlife. Meet under the tent at the park to pick up vests, litter grabbers, gloves, and trash bags, or bring your own if preferred. A centrally located dump truck will be available for easy drop off of filled bags, and maps of town sections will be provided so teams can cover as much ground as possible. Rescheduled due to a forecasted nor’easter, this outdoor celebration of art, literature, live music, shopping, and dining fills the heart of downtown Westfield with creativity. Set within the Downtown Westfield Cultural District, the festival brings together local and regional fine artists, artisans, authors, musicians, street performers, food trucks, and neighborhood businesses for a welcoming autumn showcase. Visitors can explore Elm Street Plaza, the Church Street Pedestrian Walkway, the Westfield Athenaeum Esplanade, and several blocks of historic downtown, discovering original artwork, meeting creators, browsing books, enjoying live performances, visiting pop-up galleries, shopping boutiques, and relaxing at restaurants, cafés, coffee shops, and pubs. Admission is free, and downtown parking is plentiful. What began in 2017 as a small pop-up art and literature event inside Old Town Hall during Westfield PumpkinFest has grown into a wide-reaching outdoor festival that welcomes artists, authors, and guests from across western Massachusetts and throughout New England. Juried artists and artisans transform the streets into an open-air gallery featuring painting, drawing, mixed media, collage, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and finely crafted glass, wood, clay, and metalwork, with many pieces available for purchase directly from the makers. Readers can meet authors, poets, writers, and publishers representing a broad range of genres, from local history and children’s books to mysteries, memoirs, fantasy, horror, poetry, and self-improvement, with opportunities for conversations and book signings. Now entering its tenth season, the festival is produced by ArtWorks of Westfield Inc., an all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to promoting diverse cultural, literary, musical, and performing arts experiences in the city. The Chicopee St. Patrick’s Parade Committee is hosting its first annual golf tournament to raise funds for community involvement and charitable giving across Greater Chicopee. Golfers can register as an individual for $120 or as a foursome for $440. Registration includes 18 holes with a cart, lunch, and dinner. Those who are not golfing can purchase dinner-only tickets for $40. Sponsorships are available at several levels, including Sláinte Sponsor at $1,000, Pot O’ Gold Sponsor at $500, Claddagh Sponsor at $250, and Shamrock Sponsor at $100. Proceeds support the committee’s ongoing work in the community.

Returning for its fourth year, this citywide Porchfest brings neighbors and musicians together for a day of free concerts on front porches and lawns throughout Easthampton, Massachusetts. More than 25 locations in the New City, Maple/Cottage, Mt Tom and Park District neighborhoods will host performances, with over 65 acts performing at multiple private sites around town. Performer submissions are closed. To support the growing footprint, organizers are introducing a Neighborhood Captain volunteer role, serving as the primary point of contact for performers and hosts within each area as preparations move forward. This celebration is supported by the Easthampton Cultural Council, a local council of the Mass Cultural Council, along with contributions from community members, and is organized by the Porchfest Organizing Team, Felicia, Steve, and Rusty.

Katie Pruitt brings the Fools for the Fleeting Tour to The Iron Horse with Next of Kin on the bill. Pruitt’s latest album examines change and impermanence with intimate storytelling and vivid, nature-rooted imagery, carried by her warm voice and a sound that draws from Americana and indie rock. The recording leans into acoustic textures and the live-in-the-room feel created with musicians including guitarist Juan Solorzano and drummer Aksel Coe. Her breakout debut Expectations earned a nomination for Emerging Artist of the Year from the Americana Music Association, and her songs continue to explore identity, self-acceptance, environmental concerns, the fragility of love, and the isolation that can come with a digital world. Next of Kin is an alt country trio known for rich three part harmonies, country tinged arrangements, and plainspoken narratives. What began as a one off collaboration between three solo artists grew into a full fledged band, leading to the five song Homemaker EP and enthusiastic nods from outlets like KUTX and The Current that liken their spark to celebrated collaborations such as the Highwomen and the classic partnership of Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris. A pre show bar and event queue will be available before doors and the performance. Tickets start at $30 with all fees included, and prices increase on the day of the show.

Glass is the host and creator of the public radio show This American Life, which reaches more than five million people each week on stations and as a podcast. He started at NPR as a 19-year-old intern in 1978 and launched This American Life in 1995. His editorial work also includes the influential podcasts Serial, S-Town, and Nice White Parents. Under his guidance, This American Life has received top honors for journalism and broadcasting, including nine Peabody Awards and the first Pulitzer Prize to recognize audio journalism. The episode The Giant Pool of Money was added to the Library of Congress’s National Recording Registry in 2021 as the first podcast in the collection. Brass Attack returns to The Break at Snooker’s Billiards with a high-energy set of horn-driven R&B and rock designed for the dance floor. Presented by MILLTOWN at Pulaski Park, this long-running rumble brings together 1972 and earlier rods, kustoms, vans, bikes, stockers, race cars, and hot rods. Live bands perform throughout the day, and the grounds feature beer, booze, food, and vendors. The gathering began in Worcester, Massachusetts, and has spent the last five years at its current Pulaski Park location, marking the seventeenth edition overall.

Now in its 14th year, Run Stanley welcomes participants of all ages and abilities with a mix of activities for people and pups. The day features a classic 5K alongside a fully accessible 1 mile Stroll and Roll, a kid focused Munchkin Run, and a K9 run or walk. Brooklyn songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tōth, the solo project of Alex Toth of Rubblebucket, offers a performance at The Drake in Amherst, MA that feels like a shared gathering, open and inclusive. His songs carry deep emotion with a thread of humor, and he is captivating onstage, mixing spontaneous, playful banter with soulful, expressive trumpet work. His third album, And The Voice Said, made with Grammy-nominated collaborator Caroline Rose and featuring Kimbra, finds him at a creative high as both singer and visionary artist.
