Set out on a guided hike focused on identifying edible plants and recognizing those that should be avoided. There is no collecting or tasting during this program. Designed for children ages 6 to 15, the fee is $6 per child, and one adult chaperone is admitted free with each child ticket. Parents or chaperones must remain with children throughout the program. Use the main parking lot and gather at the trail map just west of the restroom. The route covers up to 1.5 miles over dirt and gravel paths, grass, and boardwalk, with a few hills. Registration is limited to 30 participants. To register, call the Wayne County Parks front desk at 734-261-1990. Payment can be made by phone with a credit card or in person at the Nankin Mills Interpretive Center in Westland using cash, Visa or Mastercard, or check. There are no refunds. If the program is canceled by Wayne County Parks, a credit will be applied to your account for a future program. Staff may take photos for use in official publications, the website, social media, and news outlets without compensation. Inform staff in advance if you do not consent to being photographed.
