The Clothing Closet! Free gives you a chance to shop for clothes at no cost. The closet is open to anyone who wants to browse and take what they need. Donations are welcome at any time.

Glide by the river during an outdoor roller skating session that blends movement with nature. This River Glow roller skating edition features Sarovyn and Rollerskate Detroit for a 2.5-hour experience with a professional skate performance, a DJ set with sound, trained staff led by a designated safety lead, and rental skates. The event is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. Some supplies may be limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each installment offers a new spin that celebrates community, stewardship, and joy, and the Visitor Center will remain open late.

Join Movie Nights in the D for a free outdoor movie night at Campus Martius Park. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy Zootopia 2 (PG) under the stars. The movie runs from 7:00 PM, with arrival recommended by 6:00 PM for onsite activities and a kids make-and-take where children can create a Judy Hopps police hat or a Nick Wilde-inspired summer bucket hat headband before the film. Closed captioning is available for all films.

Car lovers gather at Ford’s Garage Dearborn for a relaxed Cars and Coffee meetup that welcomes classics, custom builds, and anyone who enjoys checking out unique rides. Complimentary coffee is offered for those who give back through partnerships with local organizations, and additional nonalcoholic drinks are available for purchase. Parking is free and restrooms are available. After exploring the lineup, plan to stay for lunch at Ford’s Garage.

This edition adds live music after the show, featuring Mondo Kane, a band that has performed at the Autorama. Pre-registration is encouraged, and admission is free thanks to sponsor support.

Stop by for a free fresh food pantry where you can shop for perishable items. The DRE Project has been granted 6,000 pounds of fresh food each week, and the pantry is available in person every Sunday.

Bring the whole crew for Family Day at Kudos Taproom & Fieldhouse. Kids ages 13 and under can grab a free unlimited activity wristband for all day, so they can keep playing and running around. Hours run from late morning through the evening, and activities may have schedule changes, so it’s a good idea to double check closer to the date.

Bring the kids for Campus Kids Days Presented by Corewell Health, a free Back to School Bash at Campus Martius Park in Downtown Detroit. Families can enjoy themed entertainment, interactive activities, and fun experiences for kids of all ages, supported in part by The Detroit Zoo. There will also be unique activations and stations from Detroit CHEMpreneurist throughout the event.

Henry Ford Centennial Library presents a free summer movie series spanning June through August. This installment features Perfect Days (2023) and is part of a lineup that includes Pinocchio (2019), The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad (1958), 10,000 BC (2008), Stargate (1994), The Magic of Belle Isle (2012), Birth of a Nation (2016), All Is Lost (2013), Time Line (2003), The Squid and the Whale (2005), Bob Marley: One Love (2024), The Librarian: Quest for the Spear (2004), Woman Walks Ahead (2017), and Jurassic Park (1993). Screenings are offered as part of the Blockbuster Free Film Series at the library.

HopCat Southgate hosts Sporcle Trivia with two separate games, giving teams two chances to win. Play for free as you test your knowledge, and top finishers earn prizes. Keep the energy up with beer, burgers, and Cosmik Fries while you compete. Whether you are a casual guesser or a seasoned trivia fan, the format welcomes all levels.

Ms. Lindsey leads a welcoming storytime for all abilities, featuring stories, songs, rhymes, and movement. The session is planned for the outdoors, with a move to the Auditorium if rain or extreme temperatures occur.

The Hometown Farmers Market and Cruise Nights return for 2026, bringing a lively community gathering in downtown New Boston beside Doc’s Ice Cream & Coffee. Expect produce from area farms, fresh-baked favorites, handcrafted goods, a variety of food trucks, live music, and other highlights. Cruise Nights now happen twice a month. Music Bingo comes to 3 Nick’s Taproom in Southgate with a free-to-play format built around favorite songs. The night features cold drinks, friendly competition, and opportunities to win prizes in a lively atmosphere.

Appointments are recommended, and walk-ins are accepted though immediate service cannot be guaranteed. The session will be held in room M-30.
