Stained Glass Copper Foil Pick A Project

Swartz Creek · Stallings Stained Glass, 5288 Morrish Rd

Create a stained glass piece in a hands-on class at Stallings Stained Glass that lets you skip the cutting and focus on assembly. Work with a pre-cut kit and choose a design that suits your style, including a Patriotic Heart measuring 8.5 by 10 inches, a 10 inch round Block M or Block S, Butterfly 1 at 10 by 6 inches, Butterfly 2 at 8 by 10 inches, or Heart Wings at 14 by 7 inches. Learn the copper foil technique by wrapping each glass piece, then solder your seams for smooth, professional lines. Add a lead channel around the outer edge for a clean, sturdy frame, and finish with patina and polish to refine the solder lines and enhance the color. The finished piece is perfect for a sunny window or as a gift. No prior experience is required, the class welcomes both beginners and seasoned crafters who prefer to avoid glass cutting, and all materials are included, along with the use of professional tools. The cost is 129 dollars per person, and participants must be 16 or older.

    The Poisoner

Detroit · Marygrove Conservancy, 8425 McNichols Rd W

At Marygrove Conservancy in Detroit, The Poisoner concludes a seven-city run with a story rooted close to home. This neo-noir stage thriller, sparked by the Flint water crisis, follows a reporter who returns to his hometown and uncovers a contaminated water supply, setting off ripples that are both deeply personal and politically charged. First presented in 2024 at New York’s La MaMa Experimental Theatre, the play marks the debut of Port Huron native M. M. Haney, with direction and development by two-time Obie Award recipient Lee Sunday Evans. The piece unpacks deception, the misuse of authority, and systemic negligence tied to early-2000s Midwestern water policy, asking audiences to consider a pressing question... how safe are we, really? Though fictional, the work highlights ongoing struggles in communities such as Flint, Jackson, and Newark, calling for accountability and constant vigilance in decisions that affect public health. It pays tribute to the persistence of journalists, artists, and activists who continue to elevate community voices in the pursuit of justice and change. Limited to three performances. Students and seniors with valid ID can take $5 off with the code FIVEOFF. Post-show conversations with special guests are planned, with further details to be shared.

Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol

Detroit · Fox Theatre, 2211 Woodward Ave

Right Angle Entertainment and Paul T. Couch present the national tour of the musical Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol, featuring songs and lyrics by eleven-time GRAMMY winner Dolly Parton and a book by David H. Bell, adapted by Bell, Paul T. Couch, and Curt Wollan. Set in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee during the 1930s, this retelling casts Ebenezer Scrooge as the owner of a mining company town whose greed blinds him to the spirit of the season. As a Christmas Eve snowstorm looms, visits from his late business partner and three ghosts lead him to rediscover life and understand that love is the greatest gift. Blending Dickens’ classic characters with Parton’s signature songwriting, the production shapes a fresh American holiday tale. Presented at the Fox Theatre as part of the 2026-27 Fox Theatre Series presented by Fifth Third Bank, with three performances.
