It reflects the range of emotions people may feel as they move through their days, from bright and colorful moments to those that feel more stormy. Visitors are encouraged to return at different times while the work is on view to see how it changes and weathers the elements. Lara Parks is a mixed media artist with a BFA in Textile Art. She combines fabric with nontraditional materials, drawing on a love of printing and slow stitching to tell stories in her work. Seeking ways to move textile art beyond frames and walls, she has explored public installations, theatre sets, costume designs, and other wearables. Creating environments that surround viewers and pull them into a world has become a regular focus in recent years, including designing and building sets for a local theatre.

OBX Silent Disco brings a fresh twist on trivia to Mulligans Grille in Historic Cottage Row with OBX Soundbites, a lively mashup of music bingo and trivia. Instead of numbers, each bingo square features a song title or artist from categories like seventies disco, eighties movie soundtracks, and old school hip hop. A DJ plays brief snippets, and cards are marked by identifying the track or performer. The first to complete a bingo earns bragging rights and prizes. Admission is free.

An annual chip timed 5k and 1 mile road event welcomes walkers, runners and racers of all ages to the streets of West Nags Head. The course and staging area are set behind the Outer Banks Mall near milepost 14 on Highway 158, with the start and finish at the intersection of West Seachase and South Links Drive behind the Outback Steakhouse. Parking is available at the mall, and portable restrooms will be on site. Race morning features on-site check in, packet pickup and late walk up registration at the start area, as there is no day-before pickup. Each entry includes an event T-shirt, a finisher medal, chip timing and post race snacks and refreshments. Awards for the 5k honor the top three overall men and women, first place masters for ages 40 and up and first place youth for ages 14 and under.
