Tapestry weavers with the Handweavers Guild of Lincoln come together to make progress on their pieces and enjoy conversation in a relaxed setting. People at every experience level are welcome, from longtime weavers to those just starting out or curious about how to begin. All are welcome.

Discover how math shows up in everyday life with Math Happens at the Lincoln Children’s Museum. Tinker Theater Powered by Molex becomes a hands-on hub for puzzles, patterns, and problem-solving activities that spark creativity while building confidence and curiosity. This temporary experience takes place on weekends. Museum members attend at no cost, and it is included with admission for the general public.

An annual campus tradition returns with a blend of discovery and a farmers market, hosted by the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Area residents and visitors can explore science-focused learning opportunities, shop for locally produced fresh food, connect with artisans offering value-added goods, and take part in family-friendly activities around campus. The event happens rain or shine. Complimentary on-campus parking is available and no permit is required.

At Lincoln Nutrition & Fitness: Home of CrossFit Lincoln, this foundational CrossFit program supports adaptive athletes in learning core functional movements. It is designed for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, building skills and confidence that can lead to participation in group classes with the wider gym community. Holiday schedules may vary.

A henna artist will be in the store each Saturday, coinciding with Farmer’s Market Saturdays.

Strength Saturdays returns to SouthPointe Pavilions with free outdoor fitness classes in the Center Court throughout the summer. Bring a yoga mat and a water bottle to stay comfortable during the session. Class specifics will be announced soon. A waiver from the hosting fitness provider may be required during registration or upon arrival before participating. BetterLife Insurance and the Lincoln Knights of Columbus present a festive wrap-up walk and celebration recognizing the year-long parish food drives for the CSS Food Market. Each lap completed will earn donations from individual and corporate sponsors to support the CSS Food Market in Lincoln. The aim is a combined 150,000 in pounds of food and dollars, so participants are encouraged to keep walking to help reach the goal. The celebration will include food, games, and more. Share useful items and connect with others at a community market where everything is free. Similar to a yard sale without price tags, participants can bring clean, working items to give away and also look for things they can use. There is no requirement to contribute in order to take something, and everyone is encouraged to take what they need. Please plan to take home anything you brought that remains unclaimed when you leave. Bringing a folding table or a blanket can help display items. On-site voter registration will be available, and masks are welcome. Local volunteers host this gathering in partnership with The Lincoln Tree of Hope and Lincoln’s Little Free Libraries, and community or nonprofit partners are welcome to participate in future outdoor editions. This ongoing effort celebrates 14 years of a free-exchange culture, and help with setup and cleanup is appreciated.

At FXB Lincoln Meadowlane, this adaptive kickboxing class welcomes participants ages 14 and up for a supportive workout that builds coordination, practical self defense, and overall fitness. Instruction follows a tailored curriculum for individuals with special and unique abilities, strengthening both fine and large motor skills and promoting both physical and mental well being. Beyond training, the session encourages peer connection and friendship while helping participants grow in confidence and athletic ability.

This inclusive kickboxing class focuses on strength training and is tailored to each participant’s unique needs and skills. It is open to children ages 6 to 13 and is offered at an affordable price. Marking six years of ECHO, this community-centered celebration at Turbine Flats features free games, food, and activities. Returning for its fourth year, the Fallbrook Festival brings an evening of live music by AMFM, a curated market of local vendors, a variety of food trucks, and an expanded kids zone with a bounce house, face painting, and balloon twisting. Presented with support from AKRS, Nebraska Nursery, and Cattle Bank, this edition adds a new wine tasting option, the Vinyls & Vines VIP Experience, which requires a separate ticket. Participating producers include Junto Wine, James Arthur, Glacial Till, and Capitol View, along with Zipline Brewery. General admission is $5 cash, with free entry for children 12 and under. The VIP wine tasting ticket costs $25 and includes festival admission with a VIP entrance, 10 tasting samples, a souvenir tasting glass, and a reusable wine bottle bag.

Life in Bloom Sonography Studio and Good Friends Sleep Services present a small-group experience that pairs a brief ultrasound preview with practical guidance for the early weeks after birth. Expectant parents can see their baby on screen, learn about newborn sleep from a qualified coach, and pick up workable strategies to build healthy routines from the start. There is time for questions and connection with other parents-to-be, plus light refreshments along with giveaways and prizes. The cost is $199 per couple. Attendance is limited to keep the setting calm and personal, helping participants head home feeling prepared, connected, and excited for the journey into parenthood.

Celebrate the upcoming school year with a community bowling fundraiser at Hollywood Bowl that benefits the Fredstrom PTO. Ten percent of sales from bowling, food, and beverages will be donated to support classrooms, extra field trips, teacher grants, and additional community-building activities throughout the year. Families are responsible for their own bowling, shoe rentals, and any food or drinks. Lanes can be reserved in advance to secure a time slot, with regular open play available for 1, 1.5, or 2 hours, and an All You Can Bowl option priced at $40 per lane that includes 2 hours of bowling and shoes for up to 6 guests. The Lincoln Municipal Band presents the fifth concert in its summer series at the John Shildneck Memorial Bandshell in Antelope Park. This exhibition presents wildlife photographs created across Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and Nebraska, highlighting animal life throughout the western United States. Through patient work in remote landscapes, photographer John Ritchey observes and records behaviors such as communication, hunting, care for young, and reactions to their environment, with images that reflect motion, social dynamics, and instinct. Installed in the second floor link at Nebraska Innovation Campus, the exhibit has no admission fee. Based in Lincoln, Ritchey made photography his full-time pursuit after retiring in 2009 from a 24-year career as an Integrated Avionics Systems Mechanic with the Nebraska Air National Guard, and he served as a house photographer at the Qwest Center from 2007 to 2008. Hosted by Nebraska Game and Parks, this Community Fishing Night at Holmes Lake in Lincoln is designed for all ages, from first-timers to those returning to the sport. The Family Fishing Trailer will be on site with complimentary loaner rods and reels, bait, and basic instruction, and instructors will be available to share tips and answer questions. Participants 16 and older must have a fishing license. If the event takes place within a state park area, a state park entry permit is also required.

Open to all ages, this bingo event at the Lincoln City Libraries - Charles H Gere Branch features the classic game with chances to win prizes. It offers a friendly setting for participants of any age.

Fighter practice for the SCA Barony of Mag Mor takes place at Woods Park. Training covers Cut and Thrust as well as armored combat when the required marshals are available. Activities are outdoors, so plans may change with the weather and any cancellations may be posted on the event page. Everyone is welcome, including non-fighters who wish to observe and support from the sidelines. Basic loaner equipment is expected to be on hand, and requests for specific items should be made ahead of time. The practice is coordinated by Volkmar, Mag Mor’s marshal.

Every Tuesday, The Upside Bar and Lounge in Lincoln hosts a music bingo night. Pick up a card, listen for the songs, mark your squares, and you could be one of the winners. 1 Million Cups is a free weekly community event for local entrepreneurs where people share business ideas and get feedback from the community. It also gives attendees a chance to refine their elevator pitch, connect with others who can support their work, and learn about training and resources available through the local 1 Million Cups community.

Drive-up and walk-up service is available. For $8 attendees can choose a burger or a hot dog, paired with chips, a cookie, and a beverage. Proceeds support the Alzheimer's Association.

Community WRAP offers a welcoming space to focus on wellness and connect with others. In this supportive setting, participants talk through practical strategies for self care and for managing everyday challenges.

As part of the Lincoln Community Foundation Garden Performance Series, Nebraska Brass brings a brass quintet program shaped by decades of artistry. Active since 1987, the ensemble presents a five-concert season in multiple Nebraska cities each year, performs an expansive range of music, and commissions new works to keep brass chamber music vibrant. Education is central to their mission through the Brass Goes to School outreach, which has shared engaging, age-appropriate performances, musical insights, and Q&A with thousands of students in Lincoln and Omaha over the past 15 years. The musicians draw on broad experience across classical and commercial styles, with credits that include the Omaha Symphony Orchestra, Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra, Nebraska Jazz Orchestra, Dallas Symphony, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and Mannheim Steamroller, along with tours throughout the United States and internationally. Many also teach in Nebraska public schools and at Nebraska Wesleyan University, bringing a strong educational perspective to the stage.

Participants can bring an instrument, a laptop, sheet music, or lyrics, or simply come ready to talk through current projects.

Celebrate Thirsty Thursday at Arbor Axe House with $3 domestic tall boys available every Thursday. While you are there, choose from a range of craft beers and canned cocktails. Thursdays get an extra boost at Arbor Axe House.

An informal brewery hang at Boiler Brewing Company South brings together people who share an interest in FI for relaxed conversation. It takes place on the second Thursday of each month, with seating on the patio when the weather allows. Everyone is welcome.

In Lincoln, a community gathering at Wellington Greens highlights the art of writing and sharing poems. Original work will be read by Twyla Hansen, David Williams, Arden Eli Hill, Nikki Moore, Jan Bretz, and Sam Stecher. Nebraska State Poet Jewel Rodgers, who has been hosting similar programs across the state, will participate by sharing some of her own pieces and celebrating the voices of local poets. Visual art will be part of the experience as well. The focus is on making poetry feel like a natural conversation while inviting listeners to reflect deeply as each poet presents.

Foreigner presents a Celebrating Fifty Years performance at Pinewood Bowl Theater, highlighting the band’s current lineup. Taking the stage are lead vocalist Luis Carlos Maldonado, bassist Jeff Pilson who is known for his work with Dokken, keyboardist Michael Bluestein, guitarists Bruce Watson and John Roth, and drummer Chris Frazier. Supporting acts may change without notice.

An axe throwing recreation league with a Viking vibe offers casual competition and social fun. Select your axe, take on a weekly challenge, enjoy drinks with friends, and compete for prizes. Sign up to receive a free league koozie. The cost is $20 per week, and showing your league koozie earns you half off. There is no long term commitment, so participate whenever it fits your schedule.

The Nebraska Writers Collective presents a monthly open mic and poetry slam at Larksong Writers Place. The evening begins with an open mic, followed by a head-to-head individual slam. Sign up happens on site, and poets who plan to compete should bring three poems. A $10 suggested donation is encouraged. Slam performers have up to three minutes per round and are scored by five audience judges on a 0.0 to 10.0 scale. High scorers advance to the second and third rounds, and the winner earns $50. Slam pieces must be performed solo without props, costumes, or musical accompaniment, and must be entirely the poet’s own original work. Open mic readers may share their own writing or the work of others with attribution, with up to five minutes at the microphone. To support an inclusive space for an all-ages audience, there is zero tolerance for racism, sexism, misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, religious discrimination, or other harmful writing or performance.
