This free, all-ages hip hop festival returns to Railyard Plaza as part of Santa Fe Summer Scene, celebrating the depth, creativity and community roots of the culture. Expect MCs, DJs, dancers and writers, a fashion show, live mural painting, vendors and an after party. Taking the stage, Souls of Mischief, Brother Ali and Slum Village trace a cross-country lineage, blending jazz-laced West Coast boom-bap, soulful Midwestern production and candid, confessional lyricism. Sponsored by Santa Fe Brewing Co., the event features internationally known performers alongside local talent. Standing room is available, and attendees may bring chairs. Expect an immersive evening of sound that transforms the room and invites listeners into a richly textured narrative.

Get ready for the annual Wonderful Fantastic Hip Hop Festival, celebrating hip hop culture with live performances, MCs, DJs, dancers, writers, a fashion show, real-time murals, and local vendors. The lineup includes Souls of Mischief, Brother Ali, and Slum Village, bringing together the styles that helped define hip hop’s golden era. Doors open at 5:00 PM, and the show runs through the evening. Seating is standing, with the option to bring chairs. There’s ADA support available upon request, plenty of parking in the nearby underground garage, water filling stations, and food and drink available at on-site venues and food vendors.

Sax Synergy at Paradiso brings together saxophonists Alex Murzyn and Tim Lin with support from local favorites. Murzyn, from Santa Fe, has spent three decades performing throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, shaping a sound rooted in traditional and contemporary jazz alongside soul, rock, funk, and Latin influences, and he has worked widely as a sought-after sideman. Lin, based in New York City, remains active recording and performing while deepening his study of bebop and modern jazz. General admission is $20, seniors 65 and up are $15, and attendees 18 and under are free.

This event honors seven decades of Temple Beth Shalom with a festive picnic under tents that includes dinner and a special dessert featuring seven cakes for seven decades. Live music from Lumbre del Sol sets the tone while guests enjoy activities for all ages such as creating a community garland, playing Jenga and cornhole, visiting a children’s water area with bubbles, and getting faces painted. Reunions and special recognition are planned, with Rabbi Marvin and Janet Schwab traveling from California and Mayor Michael Garcia among those who have RSVP'd. A social action component adds purpose through an art fundraiser benefiting Gerard’s House. RSVP is required.

An evening of jazz at Dave’s Jazz Bistro features the John Rangel Quintet. Led by pianist, composer, and DJB Jazz Curator John Rangel, the ensemble debuts original works in advance of a forthcoming album. Expect vivid improvisation, strong musical rapport, and an intimate setting suited for attentive listening. A curated three-course dinner from the Santa Fe School of Cooking accompanies the performance for a refined pairing of music and cuisine. Seating is limited.

El Agua es Vida, or Water is Life, is a cross-disciplinary performance of theater, dance, live music, and visual art devised and performed by Moving Arts students together with artists from multiple generations. Rooted in the idea of water as a living connection across New Mexico’s land, culture, and community, the work honors those who have fought to protect it, bringing acequia traditions to the Lensic stage. For many participants, Moving Arts serves as a creative home where they collaborate with working artists and mentors while discovering their voices. Preparing for the Lensic involves intensive rehearsals, long hours of collaboration, and the blend of pressure and pride that comes with stepping onto a widely respected New Mexico stage. Alongside choreography and music, students are creating original visual pieces that deepen the storytelling and transform the stage into a vivid expression of their ideas and heritage. More than a showcase, the event offers young people a chance to connect with culture, build confidence, and take pride in where they come from. It highlights resilience and belonging through many art forms and includes a preview of an upcoming documentary featuring Moving Arts.

Presented by the Lensic, this recital in a three-part series features soprano Lucy Crowe and tenor Josh Lovell at First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe. The series highlights young artists engaged with the Santa Fe Opera season, with conductor and pianist Robert Tweten, head of the music staff at Santa Fe Opera, leading. Crowe, a versatile and highly respected singer who received an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honors, is known for work across opera, concert, and recital stages worldwide. Lovell has been appearing in prominent houses, performing repertoire from the Baroque and Romantic eras as well as modern works of the 20th century. Tickets are $39 to $76. Join John R. Iversen, PhD for BAM!! for a talk on the brain and music, exploring the rhythmic roots of human musicality. The session will run from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the New Mexico Museum of Art.

Monsieur Periné appears in concert with Christina Gomez y Los Cuates. Fronted by Catalina García and Santiago Prieto Sarabia of Colombia, the project blends pop, jazz, and swing with Latin American styles such as guaracha, salsa, cumbia, and bolero, with songs that reflect on the world, love, and freedom. Since their 2012 debut, the group has earned international recognition, winning the Latin Grammy for Best New Artist for the 2015 album Caja de Música, performing at major festivals, receiving additional Grammy honors, and releasing three more critically acclaimed albums. Gary Farmer & the Troublemakers bring a soulful blend of blues, roots, and jam to Santa Fe Plaza. Led by Gary Farmer, a Cayuga Nation artist known for roles in films such as Dead Man, Smoke Signals, and Powwow Highway, the Santa Fe based group has spent more than three decades on the scene with seven albums to its name. Their 2022 release, Fool for Love, received Best Americana Album at the New Mexico Music Awards. This event is sponsored by the Institute of American Indian Arts. All ages are welcome.
