The Rome City Men’s Amateur Golf Championship is a 36-hole stroke play tournament for eligible male golfers with amateur status and an official USGA handicap. There are multiple flights, including Senior (50+) and Super Senior (65+) divisions. The event has been running since 1963, and there’s no residency requirement for participants.

This competitive pickleball event features women's, men's, and mixed doubles. Divisions are organized by DUPR rating and age for balanced play. Match start times will be announced after registration closes, and teams will be vying for gold.

Twisted Twig 5K teams up with Copper City Fitness for a community-centered day of movement that includes a 5K run or walk alongside a Kids Obstacle Fun Run. Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo transforms into a Neverland themed adventure featuring character meet and greets throughout the day. The Tinker Fairy and the Mermaid of Neverland’s Blue Lagoon will greet guests at the entrance and make periodic appearances at the stages and gazebo. Character entertainment is provided by Cait’s Character Corner, returning for a second year, offering family fun with pirates, fairies, and mermaids.

Returning for its fifth year, Freya Fest features psychic, tarot and intuitive readers alongside vendors, healers, tattoos, food trucks, and more. The celebration takes place at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY and also marks the opening of the brand new COVET Metaphysical store in historic Bagg’s Square. Launched in 1978 as a 15K with 876 participants to mark its founding sponsor’s 50th anniversary, the Boilermaker has grown into a week-long tradition that attracts more than 20,000 runners, spectators, and volunteers to the Greater Utica region. Held less than a month after the 49th running, this Business After Hours event offers a behind the scenes look at the organization and the momentum building toward the race’s 50th anniversary in 2027. Attendees can learn about upcoming plans and explore ways to support the milestone through sponsorship, volunteer opportunities, and community partnerships. Light refreshments will be provided by Mohawk Valley Catering, beverages by F.X. Matt Brewery and Saranac, and Boilermaker raffle prizes and giveaways will be available.

An open discussion group offering a supportive space for men affected by cancer. Participants can share their experiences or simply listen, with conversations welcoming those in treatment as well as those adjusting to life after. Meetings are led by male staff from Faxton Campus, and refreshments are provided. The in-person gathering takes place at Faxton Campus in the Weaver Conference Room on the first floor, with parking available and access via the Green Elevator. A Zoom option is also available for those who prefer to participate virtually.

Spend an evening improving your pistol skills at this intermediate-focused workshop. It covers range orientation and firearms safety, then moves through pistol fundamentals like grip, stance, trigger control, sight alignment, and follow-through, followed by warm-up drills and ready positions. You’ll also practice reloading and malfunction-clearance drills, do dry fire and live fire exercises, work strong-hand and weak-hand shooting, and train on accuracy and speed, including engaging multiple targets and alternate shooting positions. The class includes gear discussion, Q&A, and emphasizes safe, efficient shooting in a friendly professional setting. To participate, you should already be comfortable with your pistol and able to load, unload, and clear malfunctions, and you should have experience working to and from a holster. Arrive by 5:45 PM for set up, safety, and the first aid briefing. A $10 range fee is due in cash at the class.

Join the adult book club for a discussion of a retelling of this month’s classic tale. Participants are encouraged to come prepared to talk about the story’s tropes, themes, and what makes it a classic. Please note the book club is for adults only, since many original tales can include mature content such as violence, abuse, sexual content, and other adult themes.
