The Kevin Prater Band brings a seasoned bluegrass sound to Paradise Church, led by a mandolinist who began performing at seven and is now marking 47 years in the music. Kevin has appeared in 49 states and 24 countries, earned a Banjo Player of the Year nomination during a stint with The Bluegrass Brothers, and is widely recognized for twelve years with the James King Band that included contributions to projects honored with Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Recorded Event of the Year accolades. They are completing their first recording of all original material, and the opening single, Kentucky Mountain Memories, made its mark on the Roots Music Charts. On stage, Kevin Prater of Belcher, Kentucky is joined by guitarist Dalton Smith of Alderson, West Virginia, a staff musician at Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede in Tennessee, bassist Larry Cadle of Galion, Ohio, banjo player Codie Allen of Campbellsville, Kentucky, and fiddler Eb Sunders of Chattanooga, Tennessee, a 16-year-old criminal justice student at Chattanooga State Community College and the son of Owen Saunders, a former James King Band bandmate of Kevin. All members sing and play multiple instruments, and the group frequently shares its Bluegrass Gospel Music Ministry with congregations across the country.
